Came in an hour before close as I know it can be a bit frustrating but hey that’s the industry. Majority of the chairs already being placed on the tables as we ask for a quick seat and bite to eat. Server was accommodating enough and helped us quickly put through an order. She lets us know they close at 3pm which was no worries as we only spent 30 minutes inside. We had placed our orders for food and got a smoothie to share with my partner until I decided on a coffee beverage I wanted.
Smoothie was a matcha banana avocado smoothie. Smoothie came out with chunks of orange specs which you cannot see in the photo as I stirred it around after. It was weirdly spicy and had a kick and was super familiar to a spiced Caesar rim or tajine which was not right for the smoothie we had ordered specially when the color base wouldn’t even include flavour of that sort. No big deal but was super strange and was definitely a noticeable sign of cross contamination? I was really trying to put the pieces together but honestly yolooooo we drank it anyway.
I then asked to order a coffee and got told the machines were shut down and closed an hour before service was done? We entered assuming it would’ve been a cafe and that’s why we came in the first place but couldn’t turn around as we had already put through a food order.
Felt like we were a disturbance to the staff and overall under the impression that this location is just sloppy with their work. Unfortunate. Server had nice hair tho so at least you got...
Read moreI was excited to try this Namo since the one in Edmonton Trail is so good. Similar to that one, it is quite small and intimate. I do think the space is brighter. You do have to park on the street, so that was a bit tricky for me with all the constructions and limited amount of space to park. I had the duck confit French toast because I saw people recommending it on social media, and it looked yummy. I do love duck meat when it is cooked right, which means it doesn't have that gamey taste that Duck can have if it isn't cooked properly. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The duck was quite gamey, and I have no idea why, but they shredded the meat into super tiny pieces, and it looked like canned tuna meat. It was grey in color. It didn't look appetizing. At the front glance, the arugula covers the meat, so I didn't notice until I started digging in. The more and more I ate, the more and more I just couldn't understand why this duck meat looked and tasted this way. My friends crepe was good. And I know Namo usually has great food, so I dont want to give them such a bad review for 1 unfortunate meal. I will just not order that one again. Usually, I finish my meal or make sure to pack it and finish it at home, but I couldn't finish it, and I threw away my leftovers at home. But overall, I think namo is still tasty. Slightly priced high for breakfast but most of their...
Read moreFood was okay, not happy with the service.
We visited the restaurant on October 29. We had high expectations because of the positive google reviews and recommendation from a friend, but we left feeling disappointed. The food tastes okay and came out reasonably fast. My biggest complaint was the quality of service we got from one of the servers. We ordered a lamb babacoa Benedict and was debating between the lobster Rangoon Benedict and the steak and egg bowl. We asked the server for their recommendations and they suggested us ordering the steak and egg rice bowl since we are getting the lamb Benedict, so we went with their recommendation and ordered the steak and egg rice bowl. Then they asked us how we like our eggs to be cooked and what sides we want. When they brought the food out, they were lamb Benedict with the wrong side and lobster Rangoon Benedict. We told the server that they got the wrong order, but instead of fixing the mixup, they argued with us and said we ordered two Benedict meal because they asked us about the sides and how we liked the eggs to be cooked. They kept saying that they can change the food but they did not take the wrong order just because they have asked about the sides and eggs. We received no apologies for messing up with our orders. It was our first and going to be our last time visiting...
