Extremely Disappointing & Disrespectful Experience on Our Wedding Day.
My husband and I had our wedding reception on August 9, 2025, and had a reservation at The Dorian Hotel, arranged over a month in advance. We were told by the marketing team, the hotel owner, and reception that we had permission to take wedding photos in the café from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. I even had the confirmation in writing.
At 7:15 PM, my husband, our photographer, and two assistants entered the café. Before we even began taking photos or videos, the barista immediately told us we were not allowed to do so. I politely showed her the email confirming our permission, and our photographer explained we only needed 15 minutes. Despite that, her tone and attitude were unnecessarily hasty and hostile.
We ensured not to disturb any guests—there were only two tables occupied, both far from us, and no one seemed bothered. Yet, the barista went to the front desk to have us removed. We had to stop our shoot and show the front desk receptionist the email again. The receptionist and two assistant managers confirmed we were allowed to be there, but by then, our booked time was nearly over. They graciously extended our time by 15 minutes, but the damage was done—the barista’s hostility had already tainted the experience.
When we returned to finish our shoot, she continued to hover, making us feel unwelcome. Meanwhile, other guests in the café were freely taking pictures with their phones, flash included, without any interference. The treatment we received felt targeted, discriminatory, and uninviting.
Our wedding day should have been filled with joy, but instead, we were met with unnecessary confrontation and disrespect. I would not recommend this café to anyone—especially people of color—who expect to be treated with fairness and...

Our server was very friendly and got us started with our tea selections. The mountain berry was lovely.
Our towers were then brought to us. The apple scones were amazing, but we found the plain ones a bit bland, to be honest. Thankfully, we had little pots of jam and clotted cream to spread on them. The variety of little treats were very colorful and tasty for the most part. One of the sandwich options was presented on a small waffle, which, when cool, really wasn't that nice. It was a bit too heavy and thick, and maybe that should be changed back to bread.
They do have vegetarian options available and best to specify this when booking.
We stayed 90 minutes. The cost was $65 per person, and because we were a group of 6, we were assessed an 18% cover charge, making the grand total $81.00.
Overall, having done teas in Ireland and Toronto, this was very nice, but the portion sizes were a bit underwhelming. The middle plate looked like it could have had more. Maybe spread the treats out more instead of grouping in the middle. I'd go back but will try other places in...
Read moreIf I could give a 0 to service I would! I was there with a friend, got in around 5.30pm on a Thursday afternoon, there was merely anyone, , a lovely couple for what I can remember and 2 other people sitting at the bench working on their laptop… right off the bat there was no one to greet us, or ask how many people or lead us to a table… we waited for a good 10+ mins to order our cocktails, actually we had to call someone who seems to be a manager and ask her to take order, 2 cocktails (18$/ cocktail isn’t really cheap )and a dozen oysters to start with, took them a while to bring those to the table, then we added a charcuterie board, that took another 10 mins to get the attention from the waitress who happened to be the bartender as well as another 20 mins on top to bring the board to us😞 I mean there is no cook involved and it’s not like they are busy!
I would definitely not return nor recommend...
