PurrTea Fresh Tea & Smoothie - Mount Royal Village — Restaurant in Calgary

I recently visited PurrTea and had an average experience. The décor was lovely, and I enjoyed the creative slogans on their walls and cups. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, making it a great place to relax and catch up with friends. I love the avocado plants that they are growing by the wall opposite to the pay counter.

However, I was a bit disappointed with the tea flavors. While they offer a good variety, the taste did not meet my expectations. The tea was a bit weak, and some of the flavors I tried were a bit artificial. I also felt that the price was a bit steep for what they offered.

Despite that, I appreciated the personalized service provided by the staff. They were friendly and attentive, taking the time to help me choose a tea that suited my taste. I also appreciated that they offer dairy-free milk alternatives, as I have a lactose intolerance. They can be moderately flexible with the sweetness option depending on the drink.

All in all, I would say that PurrTea is worth checking out for the lovely décor and personalized service but managing expectations for the tea flavors. I was told that this was the best boba place near 17th Ave and to beat the heat yesterday, I checked it out. I had asked for the guava-flavoured oolong tea with lychee pearls. Unfortunately, the experience was definitely not up to par with the reviews that have hyped up this establishment.

1. The flavour of the guava was nonexistent. The oolong taste wasn’t there either. It was basically water with a few drops of black tea mixed in for "colouring" purposes.
2. I had asked for lychee pearls but I got lychee jelly and although they were quite sweet and flavoured, it wasn’t what I had asked for.
3. I was never asked about or given a receipt so I don’t know why the drink was $6 even though the regular size should have cost a $1 less as outlined on the menu board. I think there was a definite lack of care and communication from the server towards myself which showed itself in the shoddy preparation of the drink.
