Get transported to the 1920s where the booze is flowing albeit secretly and the music is the bee's knees. We were there last night holding a murder mystery filled with shady characters with hidden agendas. This place is very Chicago and made the perfect ambiance for our event.

The long shelves in the back held some smart-looking antiques that truly belong in the 20s. The lighting is low and dim as if people wanted to keep their indiscretions secret and avoid a police raid at all costs. In the meantime you have comfy couches, candle light, and a fireplace to make things a little romantic. It was absolutely fabulous.

The drinks in this establishment were excellent! The house wine was tasty in all the best ways and not too expensive. It had its own unique zip and the taste of velvet that should be in every glass of wine. Speaking of zip, don't be afraid to have a lemon drop shot. A round of these are known to make you brave when you are celebrating some good times.

For a real good time, get one of their specialty cocktails like "Sinatra's Black Tuxedo." All that can be said about this drink is WOW!. The server made a whole display of bringing it on an old dresser dressed in a black tuxedo with mirror to get your picture taken. Then there was the drink itself. It was black at the bottom with white foam at the top. You can see the tuxedo for sure. The taste of it was not a sweet as one originally feared. It has a little sweetness but a nice mixture of sour thanks to the passion fruit.

The service was pretty good but admitted that it could have been a little better. Upon entering there did not seem to be a server for over half an hour and no menus. Luckily, the QR code is found on the table and the ball got rolling by visiting the bartender himself. It wasn't their fault though, it was quite a night and not a lot of people on staff.

As soon as the drinks were ordered everything became much better after that and had faster service. The servers knew their stuff. They knew every ingredient in their beverages, have good food recommendations (even though we didn't feel like eating), and made a wonderful presentation when we had a special cocktail. They were also very friendly and welcoming to us. They knew how to maneuver around us when we were putting on our show and that is no small feat.

All and all, this place deserves five stars and beyond because they do go above and beyond for their patrons. To allow us to throw a murder mystery and play along with our characters, these guys deserve a medal. Must try more of their cocktails and some of those nice looking nachos that have been coming out of the kitchen...

My perspective: I am not super wealthy, and used up my entire ‘social’ allotment of my budget for this month on a fun night out to catch up with a friend and let our hair down. While this event might fall into the cost of an average date night for you or someone else, it was a splurge for me and that is the lens through which I experienced the evening and continue to have as I write this review.

My friend and I got tickets to go to their “Roaring 20s Jazz Night” with the following description: “Welcome to ROARING 20'S JAZZ NIGHT! Step back in time and immerse yourself in the glitz and glamour of the 1920s at Prohibition Bar & Lounge. Get ready to dance the night away to the smooth tunes of live jazz music while sipping on your favourite cocktails. Dress to impress in your best Gatsby-inspired attire and let’s make this a night to remember. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable evening of unforgettable music, drinks, and good vibes. See you there!” The tickets cost us $22+ each.

There was: a cute speakeasy vibe great service from our wait staff an assortment of excellent cocktails and mocktails (would go again just for the mocktails, they were so delicious) decent music

There was not: dancing more than a few people dressed up (glitz and glamour) Roaring 20s music

Other notes: Microphone feedback was frequent and harsh Our tickets got us a table, but not an ‘event’, so to speak. We were sat beside the band, initially, and when our neighbours vacated the space to go to a place that would have dancing, we were asked if we could move tables to take over their seat in order to accommodate a larger party that was coming in. At that point in the evening, were happy to, because it was a better vantage point for the stage.

Limited accessibility: long stairway down to access the establishment from the street.

TLDR: great staff and menu, misleading event...

If you haven't stepped foot into Prohibition Lounge yet, you're truly missing out on an extraordinary experience. From the moment you descend the stairs toward its entrance, you're whisked away into the enchanting world of the 1920s. The dedication of the owner and his wife shines through in every corner of this establishment. Their passion for the period is palpable, and it's evident they've poured their hearts and souls into creating this immersive environment.

But it's not just the ambiance that leaves you spellbound; the service at Prohibition Lounge is unparalleled. From the moment you're greeted at the door to the last sip of your cocktail, you're treated with warmth and hospitality. The staff's attention to detail ensures that every aspect of your visit is nothing short of extraordinary.

And let's talk about the menu – it's nothing short of spectacular. Each dish and drink served is a masterpiece in its own right. From expertly crafted cocktails that transport your taste buds to the Prohibition era to delectable dishes that tantalize the palate, every bite and sip is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs.

In short, Prohibition Lounge is more than just a venue; it's an experience not to be missed. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a foodie, or simply someone in search of a memorable night out, this place has something for everyone. Visited Prohibition last night after my boyfriend saw a video on TikTok about it. We had an amazing evening, the minute you walk downstairs its like the world outside stops and you’re transported into a different realm, wish I could give it a 20/10 for atmosphere, the old timey music and the attention to detail in the decor was amazing. I was shocked to find out it had only been open for 2 months. The drink presentation is very unique and just simply incredible and the taste is comparable. Prices for a lot of the menu are a bit steep, but as expected, they have less expensive options as well for some more simple (yet still tasty) drinks and food. Our server was amazing and made us super comfortable and seemed to be very knowledgeable and charismatic. To end the night off I had the salted apple cheesecake which was TO DIE FOR, literally highlight of my night, the salt on top was unexpected but PERFECT. Was really neat learning a bit of history and feeling like you’re apart of it, we’re from Edmonton and I’ve never seen anything like Prohibition, super excited to return.
