I love it, Wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often. But what happened to the bread on the meatloaf sandwich? The meatloaf is still outstanding, I'm not sure when they changed it from an Italian bun to this pita like bread but it takes a great sandwich and makes it very mediocre at best. Yuck. The Tomato salad is so delicious here, wow good!

It's been quite a while since I've enjoyed the delicious food here, what with Covid and all I guess. But I had an appointment nearby so stopped in and grabbed a sandwich to bring home. Of course the cutlet parm, still incredible delicious! I've missed the pickles! Thanks for the delicious food again today.

I travel a lot, well not these days, but one thing I love and pretty much every city I've been to or town on any continent is the fact you can get a great sandwich pretty much anywhere. Calgary is my birthplace and I love this city, but I always tell people it is chain restaurant hell here.
Spolumbos Is a special place, a place where everybody can feel welcome even though it is sports themed inside. It is owned by former Stampeder football players, and more often than not you are greeted by one of them coming in and yelled across the restaurant thank you when you were leaving. I don't mind the drive coming here because I know that the food is always incredible and then the atmosphere is great. I pretty much have to go-tos, either The Mamas meatloaf or the cutlet sandwich and I add hot peppers to both. Both of these sandwiches are so filling and you know you should only eat half and take the other half home but you can't stop because they taste too delicious with the amazing tomato sauce dripping down your hands and arms while eating them. Wow I'm getting hungry again!
They also have a counter where you can buy different flavored sausages and a freezer where you can buy prepared meals all for very reasonable prices. This is a must eat at place if you are visiting Calgary and a must eat that place if...
Read more5.0 out of 5 stars I am absolutely blown away by the exceptional quality and service at Spolumbo's Fine Foods & Deli. Located in the heart of Calgary, this hidden gem is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic, mouth-watering Italian cuisine. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately made me feel like I was part of the family. The deli case is a feast for the eyes, with an impressive array of artisanal meats, cheeses, and antipasto that will leave you spoiled for choice. I opted for the famous Spolumbo's sausage sandwich, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The sausage was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of spice and flavor, and the bread was soft and fresh. The portion was generous, to say the least, and I left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. What truly sets Spolumbo's apart, however, is the exceptional service. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the food they serve. They took the time to answer all my questions, made recommendations, and even offered samples of some of their specialty items. It's clear that they take pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect of the deli. Whether you're a local or just visiting Calgary, Spolumbo's Fine Foods & Deli is an absolute must-visit. The quality of the food, the warmth of the service, and the cozy atmosphere all combine to make this a truly exceptional dining experience. I will be back, again and again, and I highly recommend that you do the same. Rating Breakdown: * Food: 5/5 * Service: 5/5 * Atmosphere: 5/5 * Value: 5/5 Recommendation: Don't miss the sausage sandwich, and be sure to ask about the daily specials and recommendations from the staff. And if you're feeling adventurous, try some of the unique and delicious Italian imports from the deli case....
Read moreI fell in love with this place the moment I stepped inside. From the outside, it blends into the street, but once you walk in, it’s a whole different world, spacious, warm, and full of charm! The atmosphere instantly makes you want to slow down and enjoy your time. Ordering is simple, you place your order and pay at the cashier, then they bring the food right to your table. Even though it was an off-peak weekday, there was a steady flow of people coming in, which already told me this place has a loyal following.
I've visited the deli several times and tried different sandwiches.
The Cutlet Sandwich was my favourite! I love the tomato sauce and the big cutlet that covered the whole bun. The meat was tender and juicy!
The bread of Reuben was perfectly toasted and crispy, the meat was tender and juicy, and the sauerkraut had just the right tang. The Dijon mustard was a little strong for my taste, but honestly, what’s a Reuben without it?
Mama’s meatloaf is only available from Thursday to Sunday. The portion was huge! Thick meatloaf with a tender texture, and some vegetables added a nice balance to the sandwich. The mustard paired perfectly with the meat. I could only finish half of it!
The meatballs were such a comfort food with decent amount of meat.
The staff were genuinely friendly, greeting regular customers I saw many customers knew each other. It’s clear this is more than just a restaurant, it’s a place people return to again and again. This place is a...
