Stopped in here on a Saturday at noon for brunch. As advertised on the menus, in store, and with a huge sign out front, imagine my disappointment when I lined up to order and the server at the till tells me "sorry, we don't serve brunch on Saturdays, on on Sunday". I even said to her but your menu's and the signs all state Saturday and Sunday 10am - 3pm brunch. She response with " yeah, the menus are wrong". This was my first experience here, and I can tell you likely my last. This type of false advertising is unethical, and what's worse, is I had to line up twice to order my food and each time it took 10-15 minutes just to line up and order.
The food overall, however, is quite decent and actually quite delicious. I had the gnocchi gorgonzola with a side of garlic bread while my one companion had the steak Italiano panino. For drinks we had the cherry and orange Italian sodas.
Atmosphere was casual and modern, a good place for casual dining for sure.
Service for the most part was good minus the one snarky person and her rude comments about brunch.
Food itself scored a 5, but her terrible service really brought the mark down. The false advertising as well her attitude made for a poor experience.
Edit: April 8, 2018.
Tried this place again, but this time finally got yo try their brunch. Total disappointment to be honest. Although the customer service was better this time, the food in this visit was terrible.
Had the prosciutto eggs benedict for lunch with a side of potatoes instead of garden salad. Potatoes were very very bland and super soggy due to the amount of oil used. Their poached eggs for their eggs Benedict were so over cooked, it literally was like having hard boiled eggs over bread with hollandaise sauce. Presentation was great though, unfortunately that's all that was great.
Anyway, I'd personally stick to their pastas and at least skip the eggs benedict...

I'll use an old managing trick, called the compliment sandwich. . . First off, the pizza was decent. Even above average. Now for the meat; Ordered 3 pizzas online for pickup. Website said $10 pizza special on Wednesdays. I noticed (after paying) I was charged $12/pie. Called to rectify situation as I didn't want to hassle my colleagues for an extra 2 bucks each, and felt like that wasn't truthful marketing. I was told that there was no discrepancy and they had changed their prices but the website had not been updated... I fully realize $2 is not a large sum, but it IS a 20% increase in price. I offered a chance to change their mind before posting this review, but Via Cibo doubled-down. Claiming the website is taken care of by a team out of Ontario did nothing to improve my discontent. We all know websites can be updated instantaneously from anywhere in the world. Distance is no excuse. And secondly, while they may not have control over the website's pricing they DO have control over what I was charged. Six bucks is all it would've cost to turn a guest experience around 180 degrees. I order in/go out for lunch 3-4 times a week. With all the lunch options in the area I doubt I'll return, thanks to this encounter. My continued business would've been more than worth that pittance. As for the food itself, as mentioned previously, it was pretty good pie, even worth the extra two bucks. Definitely could've been a 5-star review; it's a shame Via Cibo's customer service void left such a...
Read moreI’ve taken a long time to contemplate whether I should submit a rating for this location. 2.5/5 stars for a few reasons. First off, the food is always consistent here which is great. However, between the 130th location and Deerfoot Meadows, my husband and I will now always go to 130th. This one doesn’t provide the same specials and the Sunday Family Feast is literally the best deal we’ve ever come across. Sadly Deerfoot Meadows doesn’t offer it or other similar weekly deals. Secondly, this isn’t supposed to be a grocery store right? If I’m gonna buy specialty Italian groceries, I’m going to The Italian Market or Lina’s because it’s a one stop shop. If I want to make tiramisu, Via Cibo only sells lady fingers so regardless, I still have to go to the market for mascarpone etc. Also, there is only one person at this location that has ever acknowledged my presence and it’s the girl at the till. Don’t know her name but she’s very friendly and sweet. No one else on the kitchen even smiles anymore or says hello when you walk in, so the atmosphere has frankly fallen flat. Regardless the food is always consistent but I won’t be coming to this location anymore....
