I’ve been riding the Green Chili train since Day 1, literally the day they opened their first spot across from McMahon back in the mid 2000s. You could say it was love at first bite. And like any healthy relationship, I just keep going back for more.
Now they've opened a shiny new location at 17th Ave and 14th Street, and folks, this isn’t just a restaurant, it's a culinary soulmate. My neighborhood kitchen, minus the dishes and emotional breakdowns.
Jony, the wizard behind multiple Green Chili locations, is an absolute legend. The man might own empires, but he still rolls up his sleeves and jumps behind the stove like a spicy superhero. The chefs? Elite. The service? Warms your soul like a good chai on a cold day. Honestly, it feels less like dining out and more like crashing your cool Indian friend’s house for dinner.
And the menu? Brand new and hotter than a Bollywood actress' dance.
Succulent kababs, dreamy curries, momos that make your taste buds do the bhangra — it’s like Delhi, Calcutta, and Mumbai decided to throw a party on the Red Mile and you're the guest of honor.

Read moreIt may look like an average neighbourhood joint, but Green Chilli surprised me in many ways!
We went as group on a Friday night, and were immediately greeted by the staff and the incredible aroma of the indian food. The restaurant was cozy, and neat and the tables were ready and prepped with napkins, cutlery and the service was extraordinary right from the beginning.
We ordered Chicken tikka, Chicken Momo, Chicken chilli, samosa, butter chicken, dal makhani and butter naan. Everything we ordered was delicious with a perfectly balanced taste including spices and seasoning. The chicken chilli is definitely my personal favourite and a must have at this place! The chicken momo is also a must have as the stuffing was juicy and delightful and packed with flavours. The chicken tikka (sizzler item) had the perfect smoky taste which we craved for! We also ordered mango lassi, which was personally the best lassi I have tasted at a restaurant- a very authentic taste.
Green chilli serves authentic dishes and we were overwhelmed with the hospitality. 100% recommend if you are trying to taste an authentic indian/nepali cuisine in the...
Read moreWorst service !!! The server has a different level of attitude, cleanliness and hygiene will never make you go again !!! Wait time was ridiculously long, 15 mins for a Garlic naan.
All the 5 star reviews are either paid or sponsored check the real 1 star reviews they all have similar complains.
Edit - thanks for your prompt response, firstly you didn’t mentioned anything about how rude the server was, looks like you were the owner who served us. Secondly when the dish is served and then the order of Naan is given, you don’t ever have to wait for 15 mins and that too at 12am, this doesn’t happens anywhere in Calgary, no matter how much the rush is, needing an extra naan doesn’t have to wait that long or atleast the server can be polite, in this case he wasn’t at all. If you can’t serve your clients politely then you have no right to be in the business. BTW First order took 25-30 mins to arrive with not many people dining and you said additional 15 mins for 1 additional naan for the avg quality food!! Sorry I will never visit again nor would I recommend anyone to visit, better visit Birba which is...
