If you are looking for authentic Vietnamese food then this is not the restaurant for you. I understand why a lot of people gave this restaurant a “five” star review because majority of the people that eat here are Caucasians. You won’t see a lot of Asian people eat here. I am a big foodie and I like to explore a lot of different Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary.
First off, the service is great and I do agree with the reviews on here about the service. The waiter/waitress was nice and attentative. I went for lunch with 2 other people. We ordered pho and a rice dish. As soon as the rice dish came out, I was disappointed. The rice was good but that meat was dried and was not authentic like other restaurants I went to. The sauce is the most important part of the rice dish and it was salty and didn’t enhance the taste of the dish.
The regular pho was good (7/10). But I had much better pho elsewhere. The friend that I was with have been making pho for over 10+ years. I thought the pho was good but she said they should have used more bone marrows to enhance the broth instead of using artificial flavor. She did say they used bone marrows but just not as much.
The pho sate was good but other restaurants delivered much more rich and flavorful taste and more meat as well. If you love pho sate, check out (in order of preference) Noodleking, noodleworld, Pho Dau Bo and pho Pasteur in the NW (only this location).
I am a food enthusiast and i have had bad and good experiences with Vietnamese food. Overall, this restaurant is not bad if you craving for Vietnamese food and it’s the closest to you. Cheers everyone and don’t be afraid to go outside the box and try...
Read moreStaff are friendly, quick to provide service in a clean space with beautiful coloured lanterns. At the front, there’s a quiet cove/indoor patio space of a few tables whereby one can just look outside the wide window and people watch while one takes their meal. Further in from the entry, it offers more of an intimate space for more personal conversation and sharing a meal with friends, family, or business colleagues. The facility has 2 spacious all gender neutral/inclusive restrooms which facilitates the flow much better than having separate ones based on gender, which could lead to long lines for one restroom, while the other remains unoccupied. Bún bò Huế has a mild heat which helped me clear out my sinuses. Although this Bún bò Huế is a regional version, I enjoyed the very large size and number of various ingredients that it was served in. It could feed two people if I had not skipped breakfast that day. The portion is definitely big enough to share. I believe I got the bang for the buck!
I went back on June 16th and ordered the short ribs dish. I wolfed it down with a side of sweet/sour kimchi. The cook knows how to please...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Nho Saigon, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff and seated promptly. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, perfect for both a casual meal or a special night out.
The menu offered a great variety of dishes, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the NhoSaigon special and Sate Soup – it was flavorful, beautifully presented, and truly memorable. The ingredients tasted fresh, and you could tell a lot of thought and care went into each plate.
Service was exceptional. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions without being pushy.
To top it all off, the dessert was heavenly – don’t leave without trying the Vietnamese coffee!
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Nho Saigon is a must-visit. I’m already looking forward to my...
