This was my first time trying Nepalese and it is safe to say that I am definitely coming back after such a positive experience from this restaurant.
Right off the bat, the carpeted floors and low-level lounge seating created an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, and tranquility, which is not always present in a lot of restaurants nowadays so this was something to be cherished. More warmth was to be found in our party’s interactions with our server (Sun-stay?) and the owner AJ; both of these gentlemen radiated a memorable mixture of professionalism and hospitality. They were incredibly insightful when walking us through the menu items, all steeped in authentic culture and cuisine, and our experience was all the more elevated when we had the opportunity to learn about their own origins and roots in Nepal.
Our dining session was ushered in with a round of milk teas that served as a very soothing introduction. Thanks to their recommendations, I tried yak meat for the very first time in their yak momo platter and safe to say, it was delightfully succulent. Next, we ordered a veggie dhal-bhat, a Nepalese staple, with a side of paneer, and it was nothing but hearty and wholesome. To our surprise, AJ even treated us to what would become my absolute favourite dish on the entire menu: their dynamite shrimp cocktail. Unassuming and simple in appearance at first glance, but absolutely packed with flavour thanks to the combination of the lightly battered exterior and the secret bang bang sauce that carries the entire dish. Cannot emphasize how much I enjoyed this particular menu item and how that will certainly be the first thing I order when I return.
Overall, with such an impeccable warmth from the staff and restaurant atmosphere, you can guarantee that I will be back to experience it all over again - hopefully not just once, but as many times as the good Lord will allow me for the...

From the moment we walked into Sherpa Kitchen & Bar, the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The service here is prompt and exceedingly friendly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere right off the bat. A special shoutout to Arjun, the owner, who goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels appreciated and well-cared-for. His passion for the restaurant and its patrons is palpable and truly enhances the dining experience.
The food, oh the food! It’s deliciously authentic and will transport your taste buds straight to the heart of Nepal. Our top pick has to be the "Momo 1988" - a mouthwatering dish paired with Mutton soup and perfectly steamed momos that are simply out of this world. Each bite is a blend of exquisite flavors that are hard to find elsewhere.
The ambience of Sherpa Kitchen & Bar adds to its charm, offering a cozy and comfortable setting that makes you want to settle in and never leave. The sit-down chairs and tastefully decorated space create a perfect backdrop for a delightful meal.

Read moreHave you seen the new SHERPA Restaurant. It is a new Nepalese fusion restaurant. I have to admit, I went for the mild vegan noodles after I tried the medium and I wish I continued with the medium heat. So much more flavour! I had YAK momo for the first. What a unique experience! It was YAK-tastic!! So juicy, you have to try it. I also had the butter garlic naan. You don’t want to miss out on the handmade and stone cooked naan! It was pretty quiet when I was there for an early dinner but it was buzzing! I wish I could have tried more dishes but I just got full way too quickly. Thank goodness they have long hours and open every day:) Ask for SAM, she is one of the super awesome staff who helped me pick out my dishes. She is a really straight shooter so rely on her for any questions you have about this new fusion Sherpa Kitchen & Bar on 17th Ave SW! If you are just looking to have a drink & watch some games, this is available. For those looking for a more traditional Nepalese experience, try the sitting room - no shoes allowed:) I would recommend Sherpa for some authentic Eastern food with an...
