Just bad. I ordered a maki roll platter Friday evening and it really was just all around dissapointing. Of the 3 containers of wasabi, 2 of them were a weird watered down consistency. The rolls were all loosely rolled and extremely difficult to pick up without the contents falling out or them falling apart completely. The fish looked like it had been cut up with a dull knife. Some of the pieces were overpowered with mayo flavour. The entire platter looked very rushed and unappealing. They threw in a "promo" order of spring rolls that I believe was probably just sitting around. Definitely not made fresh as they were ice cold through and through. As if they'd been ready for hours and they were just looking to get rid of them.
I called them to discuss the quality and they proceeded to place all the blame on Skip the Dishes!! I watched the order on the app and I can tell you there was nothing wrong with the delivery as the driver drove straight here. Besides, what was wrong with my order would have never been caused by a long delivery or anything the driver could have done.
I will never order from here again. Not just for the lack of quality and refusal to take responsibility for the poorly made food, but for the completely rude interaction I had with the restaurant when I tried to discuss the issues! The man had zero respect for what I had to say, refused to listen to me, and told me to complain to Skip the Dishes for a refund. I hadn't even asked for my money back and I probably would have emphasized if any form of explanation had been given.....
Hi...
Read moreSo I've moved here to Canada recently, originally from the US. My boyfriend and myself had always had Ye's Sushi, and while I can say that Ye's is great, so is this place. It's slightly pricier than Ye's and doesn't have any special deals on weekends vs weekdays at the moment, but you never know that could come. What I did appreciate though for sure was the taste.
I understand this was once called Sushi Feast, and didn't have the greatest ratings. I never tried them while they were under that name/management, but I can say that I really felt the quality of the meats and flavors were quite excellent, easily Ye's-level, and even then they actually had a few more options than you'd find there, such as garlic steak, buttered mushrooms (put those together!!), and even a medium teryaki beef steak. That's right, it was actually thick enough that by default when they cooked it, it was medium and you could see that clearly, and it definitely changed the taste!
Pictures are from our meal as well. They weren't particularly busy (post 8pm on a Sunday, which by the way, how can you not like more extended hours on a day that most places close early?), so they ended up doing a few cute presentation parts for us. Had a Philly Roll with a cucumber and carrot flower, a soft shell crab roll with a carrot butterfly (detailed!), and even some takoyaki with all that wonderful drizzle.
Servers were friendly and reasonably attentive, environment was quiet and almost quaint. Loved all the little lucky cats on the banner above the bar. :)
Will definitely come back...
Read moreThis was a last minute decision stop and being the first time we tried this restaurant, I am not sure how often or if we’ll be back. Be aware that they do not accept DEBIT, it’s cash or credit only. This is not clearly noted when entering the restaurant nor do they let you know when you place your order.
We were greeted quickly by the front door which was appreciated. We had initially thought we’d do take out but decided to sit and eat so it would be as fresh as possible.
This restaurant, like many others of its kind, offers all you can eat sushi (about $40). For me, personally, I don’t think I could eat my fair share at that price.
So I decided, as did my daughter, to order from the menu. The lady helping us didn’t seem super impressed with our choice - lol. She got us menus and walked away somewhat abruptly.
We opted on trying a few things from their menu; Dynamite Roll, California Roll, Dumplings, Chicken Skewer, and Shrimp Tempura.
The Chicken Skewer were really good although the peanut sauce is quite thin. The Shrimp Tempura were ok but lacked flavouring. The Dumplings were different than we’d had in other Sushi restaurants; these were really mushy inside. The Rolls were ok, but the rice was not sticky at all… they fell apart as soon as we tried to pick them up.
Overall, cute place, very busy, and there are lots of options on the menu, perhaps if we visit again we’ll give something else a try! The prices off the menu are quite...
