Tried La Cakery Cambridge today in my ongoing quest to try and rank every bakery in the Tri-cities. I was impressed. The first thing I noticed is just how huge the display cases were with a massive variety of various cakes and pastries. There was so much that caught my attention it was impossible to sample everything that looked good. The shop seemed heavily influenced by Italian pastry, including several things I had not tried before. I ended up selecting a pistachio cannoli, a pistachio arogostine, a tiramisu, a tuxedo finger, and a chocolate eclair. I usually also sample a croissant but sadly a server error left it out of my box and i didn't realize it until I was already gone. The eclair was very good with wonderful choux and generous real whipped cream. The cannoli had just the right amount of crunch to the shell. I had not had an aragostine before but loved the crunchy pastry with just the right amount of pistachio cream inside. I will definitely order again. All three italian pastries had excellent filling. I am not a fan of tiramisu as I hate coffee. (I had a bad experience as a child and still can't handle it today) but fortunately my italian co-worker was on hand to give me her evaluation. She praised the ricotta cream which she said was excellent and smooth. She approved of the traditional lady fingers but took issue with the chocolate cake base. She also wished for more booze. Her final judgement was "It's not as good as what I make at home but its very good for store bought". I think this is the highest praise she is capable of giving and should be read as a ringing endorsement. Everything I tried was excellent and I can't wait to go back and try more. I think it will take several trips to even get close to a sampling a good cross section of their offerings. I didn't even get to try any cake this time. The baker came out and chatted when I asked questions and let me know that everything is made in house. I was also please with the hours, which are 10-7 most days which means it is someplace I can stop by on the way home after work, which is convenient, and even going in at 5 there was still a good variety available. In my current rankings I put them at 4th place. No one item wowed me as much as the eclair at British Pride, the Croissant at Sabletine or the Kouign-amann at Aura-La, but every single thing I did try was excellent and there are still more treats to explore there! I definitely recommend.

I returned! Yum! I bought a coconut cupcake, a custard and a blueberry tart! I was pleased with all! The berry tart had a real blueberry filling, not some cheap jam. The coconut icing for the cupcake was delightful! ♥️ Give me a bowl of that with a spoon! The icing and filling were not super sweet. The cake part for the cupcake was a bit dry, but not a lot. I would have preferred a moist one that had a strong coconut flavour. They still have a sample table. Love that! Older Review: Free samples right now! The cake with the Chantilly cream sample was my favourite. See sample table. Food: I purchased an almond cookie, pistachio cookie, an eclair, and a custard. I would purchase the custard again - lovely crispy pastry and nice filling. The eclair was nice. The vanilla cake with Chantilly icing sample I had was lovely. I actually really disliked the pistachio cookie with its unexpected stickiness (almost as sticky as gummy bears) inside. The almond cookie was a disappointment. Their cookies may be traditional cookies from a particular country, so my taste may not align with theirs. Types of desserts: donuts, custards, whole cakes, cake slices, cupcakes, cookies, pastries, biscotti, tarts, cheesecake slices, bars, etc. Prices: My 4 items came to around $10. Gourmet cupcakes cost $3.50 each. Butter or berry tarts or custards are $2.00 each. The store's appearance inside is definitely impressive; it makes you want to buy everything. Huge selection of desserts - quite shocking compared to most independently owned bakeries. Service: The people working behind the counter were kind and helpful. Wheelchair accessibility: It has a sidewalk in front of the store. See my pics. Other accessibility: There are parking spots right infront of their front door. Hours: They are open every day from 10-7 except Sunday which is 10-6. Washrooms: It didn't have a washroom that was labelled. COVID: They have hand sanitizer at the front door. They also have COVID marking circles all over their floor for spacing.

My Son's Birthday Cake: A Scrumptious Success Story! Okay, friends, let me tell you about the most recent win in my parenting playbook: my son's 16th birthday cake. Planning a teenager's birthday can be a whirlwind, but this year, the cake was one thing I didn't have to stress about, and it all thanks to La Cakery - Cambridge. From the get-go, the simple ordering process put me at ease. I was able to speak directly to their staff in-store. I brought my picture and they helped me choose from their array of flavours. No complicated forms, no endless phone calls – just a smooth, straightforward experience. But the real magic happened when we finally cut into the cake. Our guests were in awe! It was beautifully executed with extreme focus on details. The cake was exactly how I had envisioned it and more. But the looks faded when they realized it was time to eat, and the reactions! It was even better than it looked! The cake was scrumptiously delectable, moist, and flavorful. The fondant was perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. My son absolutely enjoyed every single bite, and so did every other guest, young and old. Honestly, it was such a relief to have found a bakery that delivers on both aesthetics and taste. Too often, we get caught up in the presentation and forget about the most important thing: the flavour! La Cakery - Cambridge nailed both. If you're looking for a bakery that will take your event to the next level, I highly recommend giving La Cakery - Cambridge a try. Their cakes are not only beautiful but also incredibly delicious. And the simple ordering process makes it a breeze to get exactly what you want. I'll definitely be back for more pastries (I picked up quite a bit when I got the cake) and cakes in the future. They've earned a loyal customer, and I'm already dreaming about my next sweet treat! Cheers to La Cakery - Cambridge for making my son's 16th birthday that much more special!
