Save yourself the time and don’t waste it here. We went in on Sunday dinner before a concert and a party of two. We wanted to Experience the sushi train. I did my research online and website and it all looked amazing from the reviews. When we got into the restaurant the atmosphere was blah. Quiet, no sounds other than the conveyor belt knocking around and the motor running. The waiter showed us to our seat and asked what we would like to order to drink and gave us the iPad. I am very familiar with sushi restaurants and iPad ordering. I couldn’t understand him well but I made the best of it knowing what we wanted. I asked for the Sushi Train all you can eat for two. We had to request sashimi verbally which is fine. But no menu to give you options. No it wasn’t on the iPad. The iPad menu had the hot items roughly 6 options eg french fries, pork dumplings onion cakes etc including drinks. We ordered a can of Diet Coke and a red bull. The pop came in a plastic cup no ice and was flat. So I put it at the edge of the table and asked for a can of Diet Coke and he brought a can of Coke Zero. I’m fine with that and don’t want to make the fuss. We sat for about 10 minutes watching the train of plates go by our table waiting for some rolls of some kind to go by us. Nothing. Just lots of deserts, cut up fruit and Some unidentifiable vegetables. (Not sure what it was to be honest) I also might mention there were two other guests at a near by table. So the restaurant was not busy at 5-530pm. Finally some rolls were going by us but they were unidentifiable so we let them carry on. Finally 2 plates of 2 pieces of salmon nigiri came by so we snatched those up. There were some salmon and cream cheese rolls so we grabbed the plate. At this point we identified that nothing new was coming out. So we ordered 2 pork dumplings but what we ordered is not what we received and 6 salmon sashimi. The salmon was cut so small about half the size of a normal piece you would get and each piece was cut differently in size and shape.
No one cleaned the plates from our table or came to check in on us. Before we left another table of two came in and they were waiting for another guest to join them. They watched the train go around and made some comments about the lack of selection.
I hope for them, they had some new options hit the train.
We asked for our bill via iPad and were charged double then what it should have been and the discount that shows on the front windows not applied. 19.99 train all you can eat or 1.99 a plate. We were charged around $40+ per person. The cost for all you can eat not including train.
I will say that there is a big hand written sign on the front window that say under new management.
Don’t be fooled like me, the reviews are definitely from the old management.
The pictures I attached are of the 3 plates rolls that were on the belt 2 plates were of the same rolls. The rest of the plates were that of cakes and fruits.

Read moreWent to the establishment on Jasper, due to the other place we had hoped to dine at is closed on Tuesdays (what bad timing!). We were craving sushi and found this place that was in easy walking distance, still open with late hours, and we figured we'd try someplace new for the future.
When arriving, the place was empty and eerily silent, not even music was playing. We had figured that because it was late at night in the middle of the week, business wouldn't exactly be booming. The waiter attended to us very quickly and showed us our table, handing us a tablet and explaining the deals and prices. Unfortunately, we couldn't understand a word he was saying, he kept mumbling and speaking well below a whisper and very fast, but whatever we were able to make out, we just went along with instead. There's no outright menu, the prices per plate on the conveyor were taped on the wall behind us and the tablet simply showed hot food options, drinks and desserts, but no prices there either. From what we understood when sitting down, there was something about $40 and the all-you-can-eat options, so we guessed it was just $40 for the AYCE and maybe some extra based on either the taped conveyor prices or ordering off the tablet (which we then learned when re-visiting the reviews that it's apparently $40 per person, unbelievable!).
We ordered fried dumplings and miso soup off the tablet, and then focused our attention on the sushi. There were very few options, most of which were not even labeled, so we blindly taste tested. It tasted incredibly cheap and oddly lukewarm. The dumplings didn't come out until 25 minutes later, the miso soup roughly 30 minutes. The tiramisu and cakes off the belt were the only noteworthy food items, since we can't exactly expect you to mess up cakes that easily. There were also orange slices just hanging out on plates on the conveyor as well, which might've been some type of palette cleanser, but it just felt like an strange addition.
Eventually, we could only stomach 6 plates between us in conveyor belt food, one plate of dumplings, one bowl of miso and later a small helping of chicken katsu. The chicken was warm and a little chewy...
When getting the bill, we were shocked to see a total of $80, and 10% off (basically 8 measly bucks) which felt like such a scam when there's next to no information on foods deals, pricing or anything available, nevermind how it felt like the waiter barely wanted to tell us anything. There was also the sound of a kid yelling and screaming in the back, which was the only thing filling the ambiance aside from our own talking.
We left the restaurant feeling scammed of $80 and less-than-satisfied food and service. We finally understand why that place was empty, and frankly, most of the 5 star reviews here feel botted to hell.
We won't be going back.
And you're better off ordering sushi out of a...
Read moreMar 18 2025: the lunch buffet is $30 now, and all I really care about is the lunch buffet, so... eh, probably won't be back without some sort of promo. The maki roll servings have increased nicely, the salmon sushi was good, they added seaweed salad to the conveyor belt selection, and a nice handful of other appies included in the buffet pricing via iPad. But as far as sushi, there just isn't enough selection in the buffet items to appeal to me for $30.
3 months later update:
Came for lunch, ate off the conveyor and a la carte lunch menu.
Was seated quickly, the staff demonstrated how to order off the tablet quite clearly (if not a little quicker than most others would like). Conveyor belt sushi variety has improved a bit, adding some inari seaweed salad, and some items topped with cream cheese or mayo. Still surprisingly solid BBQ unagi. The only fruit this time was grapefruit though, and still plenty of cakes. Also, labels are needed on the shared ginger and wasabi containers so customers don't just keep it at their table - needed to flag down a staff to find a wasabi jar.
Ordered mixed veggie tempura and "BC Tuna" sushi off the a la carte menu this time. Wish the tempura were bigger for the price, but pleasantly surprised the sushi wasn't smaller for the price - 6 pieces for $7. And the tuna was pretty good - tender, smelled nice, good sized bites.
Upgrading this place to a 4* after trying the a la carte menu. A little weird that their young kids are working the tables, but like, they're doing a really good job. And for how slow it is during lunch there, it seems like a pretty simple task.
Assorted veg tempura, tuna sushi, and 3 conveyor plates cost $20. I'll probably be back sooner to try more of the a la carte menu instead of the conveyor sushi. It's not bad, it's just not enough variety for me. But I'd also hate for them to waste money and food if they think other options are going to get passed over.
Original review:
Came for lunch, paid per plate, and only ate off the conveyor - your mileage may vary.
The selection gets a 2/5, with honorable mentions for having unagi, oddly, but no tuna. Some avocado tasted off, but avocado is finicky like that, so I get it. The miso soup was okay, but pleasantly surprised it had a tiny clam in it. The selection appeared to be 1 part very basic rolls, 1 part strawberries/oranges/watermelon, and 1 part cake. Spotted some inari sushi just before I left.
I'm holding out hope that it continues to improve, because I think it's only been open or operating this way for a month - there's no reviews older than that. Definitely think there's been some review buffing, but the place isn't bad by any measure. I'll probably give it a month before I go...
