Nestled in the heart of downtown Edmonton, this old-school diner is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition. From the moment you step inside, you're transported back in time with its nostalgic decor and cozy atmosphere. But it's not just the ambiance that makes this place special; the food, service, and prices are all outstanding.

The menu offers a delightful array of classic diner fare, prepared with a level of care and flavor that far exceeds expectations. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a juicy burger, or a comforting slice of pie, every dish is a hit. The portions are generous, and each bite feels like a warm hug from a bygone era.

What truly sets this diner apart, however, is the service. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel personal and welcoming. They go above and beyond to ensure that your dining experience is enjoyable, and their genuine hospitality is a refreshing change from the often impersonal service found elsewhere.

To top it all off, this diner is exceptionally affordable. In a time when dining out can often break the bank, finding such high-quality food at such reasonable prices is a rare treat. It's the kind of place where you can indulge in a full meal without worrying about your wallet.

In summary, this old-school diner in downtown Edmonton is a fantastic find. With its delicious food, excellent service, and unbeatable prices, it's a place you'll want to visit again and again. Don't miss out on this hidden treasure—it's worth...

A hidden gem that is a step back in time.

Walking into this small, unassuming institution feels like stepping into the past—in the best way possible. The cozy atmosphere, complete with a guitar player in the corner providing the perfect Sunday breakfast soundtrack, sets the tone for a truly special experience.

I always drive or walk by and had been meaning to visit for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. Just before we walked in here, we had attempted a chain establishment a couple blocks away and ended up leaving because they were too busy sitting people to coffee us-let alone speak to us after sitting us. Sooooo glad we did-worlds apart in soooo many ways.

We took a seat at the cool, classic counter and were immediately greeted by an outstanding server who wasted no time bringing us coffee and menus.

We were hungry NOW, after our initial fiasco, so we quickly started with pancakes, and let me tell you—these aren’t your average flapjacks. Our server explained that they don’t just sit around premade; the batter is whipped up from scratch for each order. You can taste the difference. The menu itself is simple, no-frills, and refreshingly affordable.

Our breakfast, complete with juice and coffee, was not only delicious but also incredibly reasonably priced. And get this—the bill was handwritten. Who does that anymore?

Between the fun banter, constant coffee refills, and genuine hospitality, this place keeps it real. I don’t know why I hadn’t been here before, but I’ll definitely be...

What more can one say about the Commodore other than it is exactly what they say they are and always have been? A throwback gem in an unassuming storefront serving up hearty portions of Diner staples & Chinese food in that mixed prairie style, tis a great place for a quick lunch or a leisurely break from the modern hustle & bustle of Downtown.

It's not about fancy, trendy, upscale hoity toits - this is very upfront, affordable, good ole greasy spoon food that fills you up and leaves a smile on your face; plus the delight of functional & authentic decor with a lot of history imbued and highlighted in picture & writing about their funky space.

Although a tight fit, it is reasonably accessible for rollators & shorter wheelchairs - but a larger or reclining power chair may not be able to navigate the front entrance or bathrooms. There are low seats and tightly packed tables with wooden chairs, and the staff have always been as accomodating as such an old building allows for.

No pretension or dressing their image up with bland trends, the Commodore has and will likely keep it real for many years to come! Food for a quick bite or to satisfy that guilty craving, it's hard to go wrong.

NOTE: THEY ARE A CA$H...

Had lunch specials the other day with my daughter and niece. We come in regularly lately because of the quality of food, service and the price. I had the Pulled Pork special. The sandwich could have been a little more saucey but the fries were great and the slaw was amazing. My niece had the same and mentioned the pork could have had a bit more sauce. My daughter had the Chinese Special. She loved it. The specials come with soup and a dessert. Its a really good deal. The service that day (Friday November 23rd) wasnt that good. Our server was attentive at first but once a larger table came in we were virtually ignored while the server catered to the larger group. At one point I got up and went and asked for a refill on my coffee. We didnt even get dessert because we didn't want to wait an extra half hour to get served while the new table was taken care of. I get that the bigger table means a larger tip but that was rude and disrespectful to my family and I. I was frequently stopping by here for lunch but after that treatment I won't be going back. I like that the business is family owned but there are other family owned businesses that will treat my family and I better.
