Good atmosphere, disappointing dishes.

We came in for dinner yesterday after deciding between Ban Chok Dee and Naka, and settling here as we wanted to try a new place.

2 major complaints:

First, from ordering to getting our food. It took more than 30 minutes. This feels like a really long time considering it was during prime dinner time (we arrived around 6:40 PM). During which a bug flew into our water.

Secondly, the food doesn’t taste all that different from mall Thai food. The $15 chicken satay was dry and lacking flavour. The $23 Crying Tiger dish came with a serving of sticky rice that was heated up in a plastic bag? It felt like the bag was half melted, and the sticky rice unevenly heated and very hard.

The $21 pad Thai was the only okay dish we ordered. It’s hard to mess up this classic but it’s nothing special. The dish felt like it was siting for a long time. Dry noodles with sauce and the whole thing was stuck together. I almost feel like it was microwaved. The taste is on the sweeter side. And because of it was so stuck together I had no luck mixing in the bean sprouts on top. I’ll say it’s a generous portion with a good amount of protein. But it just isn’t anything I’d get again.

Overall, it’s been a disappointing experience and I would recommend trying somewhere else if you were...

Me and my girlfriend has been to Naka countless of times and at this point we’ve been served by all the servers they have. Food was amazing as always but the service need some serious work! Everytime we visit, it’s the same attitude from the servers. Having to hunt them down to get what we needed, never once been checked on and makes us feel judged for dining in… I came in today with my girlfriend and the server Katie had literally taken our order, placed the food on the table and was never seen again until she needed to get last call done. We then asked for the bill and our bill totalled to $61, I gave her $75 in cash and she asked if I needed change, I said it’s okay no problem, she said “okay bye” walked away and didn’t even have the courtesy to say thank you have a great night! That’s a $15 tip not because her service was good but because I’m a server too and have been in this industry for a while so I know that the money she makes isn’t just for her but the audacity to just walk away with no sort of communication throughout our whole dining experience is just crazy. All the servers look like they just got out of bed and not professional at all and do not look happy to serve customers. I honestly never write bad reviews especially not about staff but everytime we visit it’s the same situation with...

Feed yourself before you go

First of all I wanna clarify that the food portion is reasonable BUT your first dish will come after half an hour, that the restaurant is not busy at all (50% empty table). I stayed a bit to observe the other customers - some customers asked server when the food would come; some customers finished their drinks and food were still not here when we left (I timed, it’s like 20mins after they sat down)

Unsatisfactory service - which I would say no service at all? I’m not sure, you let me know: They just placed the water bottle and stack of cups on your table - please fill the cups yourself No one follow up your orders while you are waiting for 30mins, not until you ask The server put the big bowl hot soup at the CONERN of the table (aisle side) even we moved the dishes to empty some space (wall side) for the big bowl - please move the big bowl of hot soup yourself, I won’t move it unless you request (obviously I requested) When I ordered, I said Tom Yum Goong first but it came last :D - I don’t care customer need

Well you tell me what kind of service level it is :) maybe I’m too picky? I would say food is okay but I don’t think it’s...

First off, I want to preface this with some of my friends are Laos. Due to that, I’ve had many opportunities for delicious Lao and Thai foods so I have high expectations. Service wise the servers are friendly and on top of their game. The food came out quickly and was pretty good. My favorite was the nem khao which isn’t surprising because I’m a big nem khảo fan. For those that don’t know, that’s like a crunchy fried rice with nem that you eat with lettuce wraps. Naka makes it well enough. Though my favorite Lao spot continues to be Taurus Ox back home in Seattle. The Lao platter is a good way to try different Lao dishes in one go. I personally didn’t care for the pork rinds. The papaya salad was good. My son as usual loved his sticky rice with seen savanh (Lao beef jerky). The Phad Thai was sweet but good overall. Chicken satay felt dry and sauces not super flavorful. The Lao sausage was decent enough. Naka Bistro is good for: Large groups Kid friendly options for kids who enjoy Asian foods Final rating: I’d come back but it’s not a spot I’d go out of my way for.
