Montana’s BBQ & Bar — Restaurant in Collingwood

I never want to destroy a business' reputation. So for that reason, it is neutral at 4 stars, BUT, if I was honest, it should be a 1-2 star.

Kitchen was fast Prices were competitive Food tasted incredible Service was not good (we were forgotten about all night)

I just hope that management will actually be on top of what is happening in their dining hall and/or don't avoid awkward moments. As a leader, you are paid to deal with issues involving customer service. Sometimes, a simple apology goes a long way.

Our 1st and last experience here...

1. We're seated by the hostess, who took us on a long walk around the dining hall. Was weird, but we're guessing she wasn't sure where to put us.
2. Either the hostess didn't update the server, or the server straight up forgot us. But we were not met by anyone for over 10mins. No introduction.
3. Our server never came close to us until the hostess sat 4 people down right beside us and our server jumped on that table immediately. That table had 4 people and were still waiting on 9 more guests
4. The server leaves without looking in our direction. No one likes to have someone raise their voice at them, so we dont tell at her to come back. Instead, someone else (Blonde) is walking by and makes eye contact (Thank you)
5. We let her know what happened and asked if we could put in our order. She politey took our order.
6. A manager comes out with our appetizers & pretty quick. BUT, before that, we still didn't have cuttlery, napkins & plates. Or an introduction from our server (Brunette female w/ glasses) The manager said nothing and continued to walk the same straight line of tables, checking on guests from just that line.
7. Our drinks emptied out & we had to flag someone else for a refill. By now, our server was helping a 2nd table of new guests instead of us. A co-worker got us our refills & she came by to check on us. At that time, everything was already done by 3 different workers (just 3 seconds, no intro & then back to the others)
8. Our mains are delivered by another new face, but that's probably just good teamwork.
9. We got steaks & fries. But no Ketchup or steak sauce. So we gave our server more time/chances, I had to wave her over from a far (which I dont like doing, but this is how everything has been working so far) Ask for the items & the manager brings them out.
10. I was hoping for the manager to ask how things are going or start a conversation. She asked "do you have everything you need?" I said, "Unfortunately, we haven't got anything without having to ask for it so far" and she walked away, never to be seen again. She didn't stop to ask why that is. I spike politely, as to not scare her away from conversation. But she just walked away with a smile. I wasn't going to go chase another Montahnas worker again. We were tired of it. Disappointed.
11. our server who we still dont know the name of was happy to give us our bill & forgot/didnt realize that my daughter gets a dessert with her meal. But dont worry, I was paying attention and got her to give that to us before we left. The server seemed like a nice enough person, but definitely dropped the ball & so did the manager (Blonde female)
12. We were technically assigned a server, but didnt actually have one. And because everyone was just helping on the way, things were not done right.

As a leader you need to own those awkward moments and talk/work things out. I am a talkative person & wouldn't have asked for any freebees. In fact, we didn't ask for any...

I recently had the unfortunate opportunity to visit this restaurant that left an indelible mark on my memory - and not in a positive way. From the moment we arrived, it seemed like everything was going smoothly. We were greeted warmly at the entrance, and our table appeared to be prepared for our arrival. Little did we know that our expectations were about to be shattered by the appalling behavior of the server in charge of our section.

As we were trying to settle into our seats, eager to enjoy a pleasant evening, our initial impressions were quickly shattered when the server approached our table with an air of disdain. In a tone laced with condescension, she informed us that she was not prepared to serve us. To say her attitude was off-putting would be an understatement; it was downright rude.

We were taken aback by her unprofessional behavior and found it completely unacceptable. It is not unreasonable to expect a minimum level of courtesy and respect from those working in the service industry. Unfortunately, this server failed to meet even the most basic standards of professionalism.

To add insult to injury, the server then had the audacity to demand that we move to another section of the restaurant. This request further demonstrated her complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Instead of taking responsibility for her own unpreparedness or seeking a solution that would accommodate our needs, she chose to inconvenience us further.

Feeling disrespected and frustrated, we informed the server that we would be leaving the establishment. Rather than expressing any remorse or attempting to rectify the situation, she callously replied, "Ask them to find a place elsewhere." Her dismissive attitude left us shocked and disappointed.

A dining experience should be an enjoyable occasion, where customers can relax and indulge in good food and excellent service. Regrettably, our visit to this particular restaurant turned into a nightmare, solely due to the behavior of our server. It is disheartening to witness such a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction, as well as a lack of basic professionalism.

It is my hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale to both the restaurant management and potential diners. A single rude server can tarnish the reputation of an otherwise decent establishment. It is essential for restaurants to prioritize employee training and enforce a culture of respect and professionalism among their staff members.

As for me, I will not be returning to this restaurant, and I strongly urge others to consider their options before subjecting themselves to an experience marred by such...

Update: it's been over a year since we have been to Montanas. We just went there for lunch. It was AMAZING! I don't know if it's new management or kitchen staff but the food was hot, fresh, in abundance and we will definitely go back again. Such a drastically different experience than before. Everything was so fresh.

Went there for dinner last night at 6pm.

Table of 6 Waited 15 to get drink orders. When we ordered food it was simple orders. Chicken fingers, burgers, fries etc. 2 dinners where messed up and gave us a dish we didn't order. They went back. We waited another 20 minutes to get our food. The food was cold. The gravy was sent back 2 times because it came cold and like a clumpy thick pudding paste both times. Eventually the servers stopped waiting on us. Offered no refill on drinks. The heavy set brunette behind the bar in the pink Hoodie was talking poorly about us to the drunk guy at the bar and staring at us so intensely I wanted to walk over and ask if there's anything I could help them with. It also was not busy. There were only 8 tables in the restaurant and most of the staff was standing around gossiping. It was honestly the most unprofessional petty thing you could do as a staff member. It was my daughter's birthday. Our moods were fantastic when we went it. We had an amazing time as a family but don't recommend Montanas in collingwood. We are out for lunch right now at Montanas in Owen sound and our experience here is 100...
