I’ve passed this place 100 times and barely noticed it. I’m so glad that i stopped in today, as this is a gem hidden in plain sight! Despite the strange branding that gives the impression of a poor-quality franchise (sorry), as soon as you step in the door you realize this is far from that! The busy noticeboard, the handwritten menu, the lovely staff and the clientele who all seem to know each other give this place an unmistakable “local” feel. It wasn’t just the atmosphere that gave me the warm and fuzzies - I ordered the buffalo chicken caesar wrap and it was absolutely delicious. I first visited JB on the day of its 'soft opening' with my elderly mother who had dementia. The staff was so kind to her that she never forgot them and even when we just drove by, she'd say, :"Oh, there's my place!" with a big smile. She's gone now but my husband and I visit for lunch every single time we are in Collingwood. The food is home-made and truly delicious. We went here on a Monday after lunch. Good thing we still had time when we arrived since they close early on Mondays, 2pm, but the rest of the days it says 4pm except Sundays. The coffee is good and their scone too. We ordered a large latte, large iced coffee, and a mixed berry scone and we only paid around $10. I, myself, was surprised by the price. If only we saw this earlier that day, we could've had our brunch here since they have soup of the day and sandwiches too. They have different breads/pastries, but since it's the end of the day, there were only 3 left. 😅
