I never have been a big fan of this "Boston" chain that opened it's first location in Penticton, BC. Shouldn't it have been called Penticton Pizza instead. I'm sure Jim Treliving meant no disrespect to Pentictonites or Canadians or Bostonians for that matter with the name "Boston Pizza" for his Canada wide chain. Always found the quality to be only just acceptable while the price was rather exceptional. Let's just talk pizza, $35 for a large that's quite steep compared to every/any other pizza joint with many FAR better ma and pa's places as well as even other nationwide chain competitors chiming in around $25 for a large on average. Now for a real demonstration of value (or lack thereof) let's talk about the second pizza when considering BP. free like many others=no, $5 like the hut and some other chain establishments=no, how about half price for the second pizza like virtually every pizza place would offer if not better=still no. BP first large=$35 second large=$35 third large=$35 and just like that you dropped $105 on 3 very mediocre pies. Now you have to pay for delivery fees plus tip the driver $10.50 more still and that only gives the poor driver a lousy 10% tip to fill his car at today's gas prices. I struggle to pay that bill, driver struggles to buy gas whilst maintaining a vehicle/insurance and make a living to barely support himself forget any family. Waitresses are paid minimum wage yet give maximum service. Cooks can't make a living enough to put food on their own tables at home. But I'm sure the person who struggles the most is must be Jim. After all there is no way a former RCMP officer would let greed take over and just keep climbing higher and higher up his mountain of cash whilst everyone that works for him are denied a simple realistic living wage. Who am I kidding, Jim isn't "climbing his mountain of cash" he has so bloody much he can take his riding mower up to the top of money mountain shredding and mulching the cash mountain both up and down. Jim's cash mowing could be done weekly without ever jeopardizing his, his family's or even future family's livelihood or quality of life. He wouldn't even miss it. He could take a long hard look at the world and decide he no longer craves/needs the smell of shredded/mowed cash and instead could divvy it amungst the hundreds of people that worked hard together with his questionable leadership both past and present at minimum wage (or less for drivers) and make a genuine difference in the lives of hundreds of good underpaid (by himself) people. By 2030 it is estimated that the wealthiest 1% of the population will be hoarding 2/3 (67%) of the world's wealth. Will they still pay less than a living wage in 2030? Based on Jim's track record I can guarantee it. This middle class eroded, money/wealth void vision of 2030 may be great for the Trelivings and Trumps just like Jim has stated to many the good...
Read moreExtremely slow and poor service. Was there at 4:00 in the afternoon with a reserved table of 14. We were not asked for our drink orders until 4:20 and waited until just after 4:30 to be served them. At around 4:45 the waitress finally came back to take our food orders which could have been taken at the time our drinks were served but she had never bothered to ask us at that time. We waited for over an hour for our food with no waitress in sight or anyone offering drink refills, two tables who came in quite some time after us got their food and left before ours came. Appitizers that were ordered came out after we were served or main meal and all our food was luke warm and dry like it it had been sitting out for a while. No sorry for the wait or offer of drink refills, also there was no cutlery on the table and we had to wait for another five or so minutes staring at our food before we finally saw someone who we had to flag down and ask for cutlery and drink refills. After our meal was done we waited and waited to receive our bills but there was absolutely no one around. My sister and I went up to the front and stood waiting by the till hoping someone would notice us. Finally we had some attend to us and made mention that we did not feel we had a good service experience in any means and we did not feel like we should have to pay their mandatory 15% gratuity and that it should be our choice what and if we tip based off of service received. So the chick had to go get someone else to deal with it. Some redheaded chick comes up to the front, no idea who she was because we didn't receive the curtiousy of an introduction from her, she just walked up ready to give us attitude. She argued with us about receiving poor service and that she saw the restaurant was busy when she came in ( six tables came and went while we were there) which I pointed ( Not our fault if you under staff on a Saturday). She started to mimic me and make gestures and faces and I made a comment how she should not do that and she just said "excuse me? What did you say to me?" Like I was the one in the wrong. Whoever she was she needs to get an extreme attitude adjustment, learn some maturity and take some customer service training coarses. People like her should not work in a public setting let alone the service industry. Would never go back there and do not recommend it to anyone who appreciates being treated with respect. I have had some bad customer service in my life but that redheaded chick has risen to the top. I worked in the service for many years and would never even think to talk to a customer or act the way she did. Boston Pizza needs to screen their hires better or they are going to be in the same place...
Read moreWe went in during the week for early supper. Hardly anyone was sitting in the restaurant. We were seated in a booth right away and came our server who was more interested in socializing with her coworkers than do her job. We can hear loud chit chat and laughing in the kitchen throughout our stay. Our server came with the menus said she would give us a few minutes. Less than two minutes later shes back! We havent even gone past two pages of the menu yet. Comes back later also two minutes later. Comes back a third time finally got the hint 10 min later. We placed our order. When the food came, everything was not edible! Cactus cut potatoes were under cooked. We were basically eating raw potatoes! Ribs were cold and tough. Fries were under cooked as well. My veggies has more oil on the plate than my fries!!! Pasta came with a dallop of sauce. Not even enough to sauce the half of the dish! At least it came luke warm. No one was around for us to complain. Could barely eat our food. 30 min later our server shows up and we just wanted to leave! When she asked hows everything... We said we didnt finished our food and you disappear for 30 min. That should...
