I have been here twice since opening and have been unimpressed both times.
The first time was about a week after opening so it was expected that it may be busier than normal. What I wasn’t expecting, however, was a dirty store, untrained staff, and a disappointing experience overall. The worker who I initially placed my order with seemed to have no care. She asked twice if I wanted queso, and I said no both times, but she still ended up putting queso on my bowl. She threw out the whole burrito bowl, which I felt was quite wasteful. Despite me saying no to the queso, if she would have asked me if it was ok, or even had offered it to me at no cost since it was already on my burrito bowl, I would have preferred that over wasting food. At the cash register, they somehow got the orders mixed up, despite customers being in a line, and no one moved ahead of anyone else. Thankfully we all got our proper orders, though. The cash area was dirty, and disorganized. There was rogue lettuce, pieces of shredded cheese, and sauce smears on the counter. When I went to grab a fork, and fill up my drink that area was just as dirty, if not even more dirty than the cash area was. Most of the agua frescas were out of stock, which was disappointing as I had purchased a drink specifically to try the watermelon limeade. There was no employee around to be able to request more from either. While I was waiting in line initially, I had also noticed that there was a sign on the wall that said the fire code occupancy was 37, and there was well over 37 people between the line, the group of customers in the door, the people eating, and especially if employees are counted in that amount.
On my second visit, I ordered pickup. The website did not offer, or ask me where I wanted to pick up, other than the actual store. I drove up to the pickup window and waited over 10 minutes before anyone even looked in my direction, and I drive a very loud vehicle, so I find it hard to believe that no one could even glance in my direction, or hear me pull up. When someone finally noticed me, after a line had formed behind me, the staff member was rude, and I had to repeat my name multiple times. Eventually it was figured out that the website had auto-selected pick up in store, which I have zero clue about, and I even tried to do a mock order and still was not prompted on where to pick up. The employee was grumpy and short with me about it. A little kindness truly goes a long way, especially when it’s a new restaurant in town. I genuinely had no clue, and I apologized.
As for the food, it was delicious each time. It truly was just the service and atmosphere that brought my opinion of this location down. I’ve been to the Chipotle in Calgary, and two locations in Vancouver and all 3 locations are nothing like this. I do truly hope it gets better as time goes on, but it is quite disappointing as I am a...
Read moreI am a huge fan of Chipotle and have eaten there at least once a week in both Toronto and New York. I can't tell you how excited I was to hear that there was a Chipotle in Edmonton. I've been to many burrito places in Edmonton, but none tasted like Chipotle. Today, I finally tried it for the first time, and it was definitely delicious. I really missed Chipotle's sauces, sour cream, and tender steak flavor, and it did not disappoint.
However, as other reviews have mentioned, the portion size was very, very small. I always order my burrito bowl without beans and with a side of tortilla, but even then, when I’ve eaten at Chipotle in Toronto or New York, my bowl has always been about 80% full, which is more than enough to fill me up. The burrito bowl I received today, however, was only 50% full, and even with the extra tortilla, it was still not enough. The amount of lettuce was also less than what I’ve had at other locations.
As a Chipotle fan, I really hope this location improves. I have read many reviews of this place, and it seems there are several management issues. It seemed like the staff were not well-trained, appeared tired, and there were multiple complaints about hygiene. I was especially disappointed that they did not take proper action when there was an issue with meat being served in a vegetarian option. I know this isn't just my personal opinion, as there are many reviews mentioning the small portion sizes. I hope they retrain the staff, improve hygiene, and serve more appropriate portions of food.
I love Chipole, but I think I will not visit this branch before they improve the portion of food.
++recently(June 2025) im ordering Chipole through Uber eats, the burrito potion was always good when I ordered in the evening. So I increased star 2 to 4. but I am not sure about potion of bowls. I tried all the different burritos chains and I figured out I just want Chipole not just a burrito😅 I like grilled veggies and meat and fresh vegetables with coriander white rice! I didnt visit in person for a long time, hopefully management is improved. im the picture the burrito looks small but actually it is bigger than my fist👊
+I went to store two weeks ago,(July 2025)it was around 3pm and the store was a bit slow, staffs were friendly and they cleaned the kitchen often. but the size of burrito was smaller than Uber eats order. I just guess if you order around closing time you might get a...
Read moreActually I wanted to provide 0 Star, as there is no option for that I was forced to give 1 *. Absolutely appalling Chipotle experience compared to any other locations I visited in Canada as well as in US! This was by far the worst food and service experience I've ever had. First, the service was horrendous—rushed, dismissive, and downright rude. The staff had zero interest in assisting customers and acted like I was an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. It was like they couldn't wait to get rid of me. The girl who served there was terrible and the way she looked at me was "You paid the money for food, then just get out why the hell should I provide you service" kindaa look. We haven't entered your restaurant for begging but service for what we paid, You don't have to smile at the customer or welcome them, at least give us a good service and food quantity what we paid for,
Now, the food was an utter disaster. I ordered a chicken burrito and two brisket bowls, and I honestly couldn't believe what I received. The rice was raw—yes, raw—and completely inedible. The portions were laughably small, and the chicken was almost nonexistent. It's as if they forgot the main ingredient! If you're going to charge good money for takeaway, at least deliver something that remotely resembles what’s on the menu.
The takeaway packaging was just as bad, and I had no desire to even take a bite once I saw how poorly everything was prepared.
If you enjoy bad food, terrible service, and a complete waste of money, then this place is perfect for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away....
