If there was a 0 star rating I would give it. We have been to Koutouki for 3 consecutive years for a yearly event that we organize. Our last event was yesterday (there were 29 people). The year before we were 34 and the year before that we were 30. We will no longer be bringing our business here in the future due to the horrible experience that we had with the waitress who served us (this waitress was not the one who served us the previous two years). First and foremost, she was unsmiling throughout the entire night, she looked unhappy at having so many of us here and definitely made us feel like we were inconveniencing her by being there... Ok maybe she's just having a bad night? Then when the time came to pay, she kept huffing and puffing at us when we didn't have exact change. Excuse me? You would think that they would have thought about this in advance and made sure their cash register had enough change to accommodate such a large group? Members of our group were forced to scrounge around for change to accommodate their lack of it! We lined up to pay for the meal and it was a very uncomfortable ordeal as she kept glaring at us - we did not feel welcome at all! And finally, I am fasting (ramadan) and did not eat any of the food but yet was obligated to pay for food that I did not consume. When I brought up this issue politely to this waitress, her tone escalated very quickly. I clearly voiced the fact that I would pay my bill begrudgingly due to the simple fact that I did not want to make a scene yet the waitress kept trying to argue with me. I cut her short and told her to just let me pay.
Koutouki, your terrible customer service and lack of leniency have lost you any future business from us. Seeing as how the entire time our group was there you only had 3 couples come to your restaurant, it certainly looks like you could've used it. You would do well to reflect on this and perhaps hire a waitress who has better...

I booked a reservation about 1-2 weeks in advance for a party of 8 people for to celebrate my birthday. I was so excited and couldn't wait to try this place out since I had heard nothing but good things from everyone I had talked to. I was especially excited about the belly dancers and the authentic food. Unfortunately neither of those thing happened. We got to the restaurant at 6:30pm on a saturday night and had no problem being seated as it wasn't busy when we got there. We did however wait anywhere from 15-20 minutes before being acknowledged by a server. Majority of the party ordered appetizers. We waited close to an hour before getting anything served to us, then all that was served was greek salad which only 3-4 out of the 8 people ordered. By the time it was 8:00 other tables who were seated after us had already gotten their appetizers and main dish. At this point I was so unimpressed and walked through the restaurant to find our server to check on our food. She said it would be coming out shortly. At 8:30, that's two hours after we had been seated. I searched through the restaurant AGAIN and and asked when our food will be out, she said another 20 minutes. At this point I demanded to see a manager. The manager was no help at all and extremely rude and sassy to talk to, I told her we were leaving and she said we had to pay for whatever we ate and would not give us a discount or anything on the house even after having a terrible experience. Also we did not get to see any belly dancers they just came out after we were leaving. I have never in my life had such an awful encounter with a restaurant, especially on...
Read moreWas craving Greek food and wanted to try this place as I have tried most (see my review for Yiannis on Whyte Ave) overpriced as this place.
I purchased the lamb meal at $33, this should be $23 and it would still be over priced, you are getting a potato and rice with the meat - think about how inexpensive potatoes and rice are. That being said, the potatoes which I ordered more of were tasty. Could use more lemon but still pretty good.
I was mostly craving greek rice, the kind that's yellow with peas and carrots, that I have come to enjoy from other Greek restaurants. The rice is just plain rice so beware if you are looking for something more interesting:)
We also ordered the chicken souvlaki meal. It was fine again overpriced for what you are getting- not they do not give you pita or tzatziki with any meal. This place most likely would be fun with a group and an experience dining out with friends/family - but during a pandemic you might as well hit up a mall location of a Jimmy The Greek. You are going to get the same quality food for more than half the price.
If you are looking for better prices for Greek food outside of a chain I found a place behind the courts and Art Gallery named Oil Lamp. Better portions and cheaper prices than this space. Trick for ordering which i took a chance on and it worked - ask for a side of Tzatziki for each meal as they don't offer it and most likely want you to pay $6 dollars (insane) from their app menu - which doesn't even include pita -that is an extra $4. North American Greek food isn't fancy its rice potatoes and bread so the amount Edmonton Greek restaurants charge is just not worth it is my...
