Driving along busy Argyle Road, I had passed this place for years without a second thought. It’s tucked inside an old hotel west of Calgary Trail—not exactly eye-catching—but a hot pot enthusiast brought me here, and I’m glad they did. You are not here for the decor. You’re here for great food, fast and friendly service (including a robot server!), and an all-you-can-eat experience that’s worth every penny. The price is extremely fair, covering appetizers, broth, and a decent selection of veg, noodle, meats—including jumbo shrimp (yes, you have to peel them yourself—boo-hoo). The condiment bar is a personal favorite, adding to the customization of every bite. We arrived at 4 PM on a Saturday, and the place was already filling up with what seems mostly like regulars—a great sign. The service? Attentive and efficient. The experience? Even better. Didn’t even realize they had spring rolls and other appetizers until later (I wasn’t the one ordering). All in all, a fantastic find for hot pot lovers.

This is a very bad place! Dirty, food servings are very small and CUSTOMER SERVICE is VERY VERY BAD! They choose customers to dine in. If you are not Chinese, even if you arrrive early than them or early in the line, you will be callled last. This is not only a 1 time experience but multiple times to validate if our impression is true. Maybe that Old Lady is the Owner(the one who wears black) because she is so proud to say that you can come in, you are not, you are last. When you ask why is that becoz you came early than them (no reservation), she just lies in front of you and say becoz I can. SO BAD. No respect! No inclusivity! RACIST! Also, if you need something like water, extra plate or chopsticks, it's either she will give you but will take 15mins, or she won't give you becoz you already have the plate and not entitled for extra! DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE! Better go to CHINESE HOTPOT BUFFET. They are respectful and VERY ACCOMODATING! The place is VERY CLEAN.

I've been here many times over the years and it hasn't changed much. The staff are always busy but still friendly -- they get a lot of customers. I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you don't want to stand around for 30+ mins, there isn't really anywhere good to sit and wait. The food comes out very quickly so you'll be able to start cooking right away. I'm not sure if they still do all-you-can-eat, but my recommendation is to just go with the all-day special which lets you pick a broth, noodles/rice, and 4 options from their menu. It's currently $21, and I always get so full by the end of it that often I have to bring home leftovers. I see no reason to spend more money on all-you-can-eat given how much food you get with the special. If you feel like 4 items isn't enough variety though, just go with some friends or family, coordinate your orders, and share amongst yourselves. Easy!

If I could give 0 stars I would.

Reading all the most recent reviews, I am laughing!!! Literally, what exactly we felt when we were there. Used to be our favourite place due to friendly and quick staff. First time we went under the new management was 2 weeks ago for late dinner. Stood by the teller and watched two of their staff play on their phone. What’s the point of the bell on your door when you can’t even look up! Was only served water and was not asked if we wanted anything else. Sauce bar was empty but we assumed it was because we went around 9pm. Anyways, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We again returned tonight. The resto only had 3 tables. It took them 7 mins to acknowledge us. We were given water 15 mins in. My husband and I got our orders first and our two children who were 12 got theirs 10 mins later. We go to the sauce bar, this was at 430pm, everything was empty. My husband politely asked for some XO sauce and a refill on some. Guy comes out 5 minutes later with XO oil and Satay Oil. Through this, we watched a couple who looked very confused get seated next to us, no idea what to do. Was not acknowledged at all. 15 mins in, they were given an order form. Anyways, they ended up leaving. Can’t blame them. The restaurant was not busy! Old management would have handled this way better.

Please train your staff. Learn to acknowledge your customers. Actually greet them as soon as you point out where they should sit before you send your robot to give them water. Ask your customers if they’ve ever had hot pot experience. Don’t assume! Also, know what you actually have in stock before you get your customers to choose all you can eat. You literally do not have a lot of stock! For the price your customers pay, you should do better.

We are taking our business elsewhere. Chilli Hot Pot in Calgary trail is actually awesome!!!! Go...

My husband and I are a mixed race couple, and this USED to be one of our favourite late-night date night places to eat. We've dined here for the limited lunch menu, the all-you-can-eat dinner menu, and the late-night express options. Up until this point, we've had excellent food and (usually) a very satisfying experience every time!

2 nights ago, we arrived late around 2AM, and were told the kitchen had JUST closed, and next time we should come at least an hour before closing. Disappointing, but completely fair.

We decided to try again last night on Canada Day, this time with a party of 5, and came in at 1AM, 90 minutes before closing hours, and 120 minutes before they typically boot you out.

We were turned away AGAIN and told that the kitchen of this all-you-can-eat hotpot buffet had "JUST run out of food". We were surprised, especially because the restaurant was clearly continuing to serve other tables. But what can you do? We went back to our car while we looked up other late-night options.

While we were waiting, we observed at least 2 other cars drive in, all with parties of 5 people. The first group walked in and were seated IMMEDIATELY, 5 minutes after we had been told the restaurant was out of food!

As I mentioned before, my husband and I are a mixed race couple..... Asian Express Hotpot was mysteriously able to procure more food for twice as many people -- as long as those...

Everytime I come here to eat past 11pm for the dinner special they claim they ran out of food or were too busy. I mean its advertised that they close at 1:30 am, not depends on how busy we are. On multiple different occasions that I've been here I got different results as a customer; at least make it look like you treat everyone the same but not here! Not trying to tie in race as a factor but wow it's amazing to see anyone coloured get different service. So someone oriental came at 12:30 and get food while they closed at 1:30. But when I came here at 12am I was denied service it's kinda pathetic and disgusting to see this in the restuarant industry. It's also sad that I had to create an account to leave a negative review especially when its this bad. Its unbelievable like don't false advertise your all you can eat and claim your running out of food. My only advice that I got from the staff is call ahead if your going to be arriving past 11pm to give them a aheads up. What's that gonna do, are you gonna run to the market at 11pm and restock. I can only shake my head as...
