The Grill House + bar — Restaurant in Greater Strathcona

I went to this place over a week ago just to try it out. Personally, I felt like it wasn't a bad experience but nothing above average.

Atmosphere: the place itself looks nice inside but where me and my friend were sitting, you couldn't barely hear the music. Not a deal breaker but if it ever gets very busy, I assume the workers intend on the sounds of the customers to create an atmosphere. Not a fan

Service: don't know the servers name but he was very good. He checked up on us quite often and he didn't come back to ask "how has the food been" only after 3 minutes. Definitely a plus, other servers can stand to learn from him.

Food: a little disappointing to be honest. The breading for the boneless chicken wings was very thick and they used chicken breast too, so it makes you have that unnatural full feeling before you're actually full. The shrimp tacos were okay but I will always question people who put regular cheese on seafood, even on a taco. Didn't taste bad though. The beef taco that I got with the deal was much better than the shrimp taco. The burger was pretty average when you compare it to other bar and grills. It looked good and they didn't use raw onions like some places but it was a very basic burger overall with no crust or char. I would argue the fries were better than the burger because they had an excellent amount of salt and we're lightly crispy.

Pricing: I'll just say that the prices here are very reasonable. The $1 taco deal with each drink is excellent. I would recommend this place just for that, but that's the only reason I would recommend this place.

Overall: Maybe if you want cheap food and you're just there to drink and have $1 tacos with your drink, accompanied good service, then this would be a place to think about. If you want above average food and are looking for a place to bring just one other person on a date or whatever, then I recommend you...

Grill House is a pub style spot in south Edmonton offering many different types of foods on the menu. I don't think I can fairly review the menu because I had such terrible service.

First there are two doors. So I'm not sure if you need to wait to be seated. I went to the front register where I waited for someone to come for ten minutes. Finally I called to one of the guys in the kitchen and he said one of the ladies would be with me shortly. Another 10 minutes and I stopped one of the ladies and she seemed annoyed. I'm not sure what was the problem as she was sending food orders out with drivers. She said someone would help me at the bar. I wanted another 10 minutes and no service. There is no bartender... The servers were doing their own drinks. Finally I called out to one of the younger servers who said she could help me. What did I want......

That's 30 minutes of standing around and no service and certainly noone wanting to serve me. I've never experienced anything like it.

The space was fine. A long hallway area and then an open space.

The food was fine.

But this kind of service trumps...

First time visit. It was taco Tuesday, how can you go wrong. 8 bucks two tacos. I tried the beef and the chicken. It was just over 16 bucks for four. It's 8 for 2 tacos. We waste more money on less. The beef was excellent, I really like the seasoning. Two tacos is lots. The chicken was perfect as well. Simple and worth the price. Tricky little spot..parking can be interesting as it's a busy area. 4.99 highballs on Tuesday, that's a win and Wednesday for women. I will be coming back for steak night by the looks of it.
