In 31 years of enjoying Indian food, I’ve never been given a mayonnaise-based tartar sauce with vegetable pakora. It’s not even served with fish pakora. When I first glanced in the takeout bag, I thought it was a yogurt dip. Tartar sauce is made of mayonnaise and relish, served at places that sell fish & chips, and on the “Filet of Fish” burger at McDonalds. It was a shock, and the pakora wasn’t that great either. Edible, but not that good. The butter chicken and mutter paneer were alright, but to get a mayonnaise tartar dip with pakora, especially for the prices they charge, is absurd and actually a bit insulting. I guess that’s what I get for asking for “extra dip” I should have said extra “chutney.” Perhaps they thought I’m a white person who doesn’t know anything. Might as well give me whatever they have sitting around in the fridge. It surprises me that they even keep this in their restaurant. At least they were very friendly about giving me the tartar sauce.

If you find this helpful, give it a thumbs up! Customer WiFi: Shaw Open Washrooms: yes Power outlets: Yes Pet friendly: no Parking: In front of the building Food/Drinks: took a little while for all our food to come out but it was well worth the wait! Bold flavors and everything was cooked amazing! The chicken biriyani was super nice and you could tell that the spices were different from dish to dish. Definitely an adventure for your taste buds! The only dosa I've ever liked is the one from back home but this one could give it a run for its money. Service: our waitress Divya was super nice and her recommendation was super as well. We were fairly well looked after however, it would have been nice if our waters were topped off more frequently. Atmosphere: fairly open with some interesting decor. Arches, fancy lights, large bay windows, definitely lots to look at and take in while waiting for your food. If you found this helpful, let me know by leaving a thumbs up!

Taste Blends really suits the name for this restaurant. We would 100% recommend you to try the south Indian dishes they offer. For the starters we ordered the "Rasam Vada" and the "Gobi Manchurian" and the portion size was well appropriate for 2 adults and 2 kids. Then for the main course we ordered "Uthappam" plus "Mysore Dosa" and "Plain Masala Dosa". All the food was well cooked and at perfect temperature for eating. Above all the food was really tasty and spice level was moderate. The server was courteous and ready to help. Even both owners came one by one and checked with us regarding the food and offered more Sambar and chutneys. The restaurant was clean and had lots of options for sitting area. We will definitely visit again.

This review might be a little out of place considering the plethora of 5 star reviews.

We visited this place and ordered the vada, a few dosas and biryani.

The presentation and ambience of the place is great. The hostess/server could be a little more outgoing. Regardless, great décor and setting of tables. I couldn't help but notice the numerous wires just hanging from the back of the TV - could help to tidy that up a little.

Onto the food, the potatoes used in the dosa were very sweet - the food overall was under seasoned and lacked a general 'good taste'. The food was sent back and the owner assured us they were using russet potatoes which shouldn't be on the sweeter side. That only comes down to using stale and older potatoes where the starches convert to sugar.

Secondly, the vada! The recipe and ingredients were great and I was expecting it to be the savior. Unfortunately, it had a very odd and burnt (coal like) taste which means they are reusing old oil.

Lastly, on to the biryani which was beautifully wrapped in Banana leaves. You could smell and taste the staleness of the rice and the actual composition and elements of the biryani were missing. Instead we had chicken with a thick sauce bundled up and spiced rice sitting on top as if a previously prepared chicken curry dish was mixed up with a stale serving of rice. Under seasoned as well.

I suggest the restaurant to really focus on their quality of ingredients, preparation and a touch more focus on taste and flavor.

Patrons go to a restaurant to experience great tasting food - which was absolutely...

We went to this place just for a change , me and my colleagues usually go out for Friday lunch . I gotta tell this is like eating in home with 5star taste . I usually feel sick when I eat outside ( the extra ingredients they add to make food better will Make sick) but I believe they either don’t add or add little bit which doesn’t affect anyone . I tried Mutton Kizhi biryani it is authentic Kerala biryani, out of all biryani I have tasted in Canada this is the best and authentic . Also their chilli fish is good , parota is highlight of this store , it’s not some frozen parota like other restaurants. Mutton Kothu parota is good as well. My Colleagues tried dosas and they said they were all amazing and they said we will stick to this store always . Cx service is awesome , guy who served was Melvin who has got high cx service skill and smiling face always which you don’t see in many restaurants. I will not go to any other restaurants other than this one . To be short the most underrated restaurant . This needs to be reach all over so people get to eat (know) what is authentic South Indian food . Trust me try this you won’t regret , I...

When I moved to Edmonton from Toronto, the first thing I did was look-up all thre kerala restaurants here. I started exploring the food from all the restaurants and this particular restaurant made me want to actually write a review because of how outstanding their menu and how absolutely delicious their food was. I only tried their buffet but I think I can speak for almost all their items because of the amount of options you get to choose from in the buffet. Tasted all of the offerings and I can confidently say that the food will not disappoint you. It hits right at that spot and makes you feel like you're at an actual Kerala restaurant. The mouthwatering buffet got even better when the staff told me that there were more items in the buffet that were not on the table, like kallappam, thattu dosa, Porotta etc. that I could just ask them to bring to my table freshly made.

If you are in Edmonton and looking for authentic Kerala food and are very picky about food taste and texture, I would recommend Taste Blends without a second thought. So easy to...
