Placed an online order through Uber eats on Saturday night, with an estimated pick up time at 5:55 PM. Upon arrival, I told the server that I was there for an Uber eats pickup order. I stood in the doorway with a few other customers, as the two servers ran back and forth between the dining area and kitchen. There were a few seated tables, but the restaurant did not seem overly busy. After I had spent 20 minutes standing there, one of them mentioned that they didn’t get any Uber Eats orders. (During the time I was waiting, a seated table of about 8-9 people had been waiting and looking around for someone to take their order, and one of them even had to stand up and ask the servers if they could take their order.) Another Uber Eats pickup customer was told the same thing, that “the best we can do is cancel your orders.” This was a big disappointment, as I then had to drive around and look for food elsewhere after my time had been wasted for no reason - I would have even appreciated being told that they hadn’t received any UberEats orders when I had initially arrived, instead of being repeatedly walked past. To add to the confusion, my UberEats app even stated “your order is ready for pickup” the whole time I waited.
I'm not sure how something like this can happen, as I've picked up dozens of UberEats pickup orders at other restaurants without issue. Yes, customers can call restaurants to place/ensure orders for pickup, but not everyone has that ability — further to that, most customers prefer and appreciate the convenience of mobile ordering.
I had such high hopes for this establishment, since I live in Kenilworth and was excited to try a newly-renovated and...
Read moreThe outside might not be the best looking place but inside is quite nice.. The food is great and the server with the glasses is very helpful and attentive, when we asked questions about the food she was helpful and even gave some clarification on certain dishes!
We ordered the Veggie Sunomono, Tuna Tataki, Bulgogi Bento, and the Miso Soup and Korean Soy Chicken. The dishes in our opinion were full of flavour.. Combination of Citrus umami flavors the Japanese cuisine is known for it present in this restaurant..
The proteins were done perfectly, from the soft texture of the tuna, to the crispy batter from the chicken.. Meals were priced decently :) so you won't break your wallet..
Don't have to worry about food being cold, all of them were prepared properly and the timing of the food was perfect..
We wanted to be able to taste our food completely, so We had tea and water for our drinks but you can get other drinks such as soda if need be..
The utensils and cutlery they own have such nice details, as you can see in pictures and everything compliments each other.
Lastly, the ambiance is good.. The service is great as people greet you and thank you when you leave.. And i hope they continue to do well and get busy in the future.. Well deserved group of people that care about hospitality and the service!
TL:DR - Food is great, place is welcoming, people are friendly, price is good, small parking lot for when this restaurant finally gets recognized and...
Read moreDecided to try this place out. Wasn’t anything special.
The chicken karaage was small portioned and nothing really stood out. Flavour was average but under seasoned. There also wasn’t any breading on it and it was literally just cut up fried chicken thigh. The miso soup was fine, but served in a tea cup. For $2.50, I’d expect an actual small bowl. The few pieces of Nigiri Sushi we got were very small and disappointing for the price.
On to the rolls, we tried the black dragon and green dragon rolls. While the rolls were fairly large portioned, A LOT of the filling was imitation crab meat, even though the menu stated nothing of the sort (I intentionally avoided the rolls with imitation crab meat). Most of the rolls on the menu had the crab meat/California roll base, so it wasn’t really varied in terms of choices. Very average tasting otherwise and nothing spectacular stood out. You’d get better quality and bang for your buck elsewhere. I wouldn’t go back, as California rolls (if that is what you consider sushi) can be had at the grocery store for less.
The service was fine. We came in closer to closing time and they accommodated us, despite our ordering being in the last call window.
Atmosphere was okay but the building could use some renovation. Our table was oddly placed, and the seat back to my chair was pushed all the way to the wall, so it was difficult to get...
