Toujours Mikes — Restaurant in Gatineau

So this was my moms and my First time eating here , we are not from the area we decided to take a little extra ride from aylmer to try something new , at first we were super irritated as it took 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink .. let me say it was quite busy in there and everyone seemed to be working hard so we stayed as patient as possible ! But here’s the scoop So there is a table infront of the kitchen with direct eye view into the kitchen where you can see plates being served / handled and finished plating which I noticed the waitress's do.. found that kind of odd since they handle almost everything else in the restaurant why would they be touching our food with their fingers ? anyway ,from one kitchen staff to another we don’t have time to wash our hands lol so to touch many peoples meals ( cross contamination) with possible major allergy issues , plus touching things around the restaurant . one waitress in particular kept touching meals to place nicely on plate and then wiping her hands on her shirt and she was also continuously tucking her hair( bangs) behind her ears and me and mom were just grateful to know that wasn’t our waitress .. but as soon as we see HER come with our meal we declined it right away and explained exactly what we saw , She didn’t argue or deny what happened Which I respect . I believe it was the manager who came back to directly apologize and even brought our fresh meals to us personally which was appreciated ! I find the matter was resolved in a great way , the food was delicious and it was worth the wait and I will take the extra drive out of town just to get my breakfast here ! I do apologize to the young lady if we got her into trouble , I know exactly what it’s like to work in that kind of environment and it isn’t always a breeze but to be more careful would benefit you in your place of work . Hopefully in this case a little Constructive Criticism can go...

Went there on Saturday evening with a friend to have some diner. Our waitress Emilie ( got her name from the slip ) gave us a terrible service . We ordered drinks as soon as we were seated , she brought them but disappear until our glasses were empty to come and get our meal orders. I even made a remark jokingly and said “ I thought you had forgotten about us “. I thought the remark would make her give us more attention but no. Our pastas were dry ( the one reason we always choose to dine at Mikes is because their pasta is never dry ) Emilie was nowhere to be found we had to ask another waitress if we could have some extra sauce . Emilie would have known if she had come to check on us . By the time the sauce came the pasta was cold and sticky luckily the sauce was warm. By the time we finished our meal , The party that was seating next to our table had left and that is when Emilie came to clear our table and asked me if I still want to order the pizza ( I had mentioned I would need a pizza to go ) I asked her how long it would take , she said “ ça ne prendra pas longtemps , j’avais une table de 50 personnes à servir et nous n’étions que deux , maintenant je peux m’occuper de vous “ I asked her just because the other table had 50 guest and we were 2 that makes us less than customers? Then she continued and asked if we still want the pizza to go or dessert or our bill . That was terrible service and she was unapologetic about it . I understand that the bigger the party , the fatter the bill and her tip but that doesn’t mean that she has to ignore us and even be obvious about it and tell us how the big party has left and how she can take care of us. We ended up asking for a supervisor so we can complain but the hostess told us there wasn’t any . Emilie did not deserve any of our tip that we still left for courtesy but she should learn that 2 customers are as much customers as 50 and should receive the same level...

Overall: I deserve a refund. Will not visit again.

Order: Fish and chips duetto w/ fries $18.99 Lobster Rolls w/ seasoned fries $27.99

Ordered to go on Saturday afternoon, it was very quiet/empty, only two cars in the parking lot. Was disappointed in receipt of my our food.

So I paid $53.16 total (got $2.03 rebate)! I feel like they stole from me. I'm not happy and would like at least half of my money refunded.

The fish (1), I've never seen so small, like from the frozen isle, where you pay $14 for a pack of 10 or something. And one piece!!! Only one small piece of fish? The regular fries, were dead bland not enjoyable and had to be drowned in ketchup.

Lobster rolls tasted fine. Not great barely good, just fine. The Cesar salad had exactly 8 pieces of chopped lettuce - we counted then. This meal was also very over priced

If we weren't on a time constraint to drive and see family across the province I would have turned back and given back the food and requested the refund in person.

Beyond disappointed and for sure will not be eating at any of their...
