This place is where we have stopped in for a meal regularly on our trips west. It will be no longer. We stopped in on July 28th with our family, a party of 8. Our son was reluctant to stay as he was not impressed with the uncleanliness of the place, but we stayed anyway. It was during the lunch hour and we should have realized there was a problem when only 1 or 2 other people were in the restaurant. One meal was inedible and we refused to pay for it (poutine). Two other meals were only partially eaten as they were not very good. The kids were joking that the fries appeared more like noodles. The service was poor as we had to stand around and wait for a while. Finally we had to call the waitress so we could be seated. The waitress brought food to one of our party late and explained that it got forgotten in the microwave! We expect fresh food in a restaurant, not microwaved. Ordered a veg omelette and the mountain man breakfast, and everything - from the pile of veggies in the omelette and the breakfast sausages to the pancakes - was exactly right. The chunky potatoes were light fluffy airy and crunchy. When you moved them around eachother they sounded like whispering waves on a pebbled beach. The waitresses are very friendly and for a weary traveler that was the best thing about the place. The food was quite good and I was heartened to hear that they make much of their food from scratch.
