Food is absolutely disgusting and the employees are rude as hell, they some of the worst policies such as no washroom service unless if you're a customer who’s ordering food, no outside food allowed. This all happened on a weekend when me and my friend were on whyte ave enjoying our weekend night after when the club closes suddenly my friend and I have to use the washroom we go inside and see the door is locked upon asking the employees for the key they replied “washroom is only for customers”. So we decided to order food because we were also very hungry, so bingo they opened the washroom door for us, however what happened next left us coming disappointed by their services and attitude towards customers, it took them forever to get our order ready, we had no problem with that because it was packed and other people were also waiting just like us get their food, but thing that pissed me off the most was when I suddenly did not start feeling well I decided to till then eat some food that was on me just so I don’t pass out or anything worst doesn’t happen and the food was just some convenient store snacks such as chips and a chocolate bar. We literally get yelled at by one of the employees “hey no outside food allowed” at first I ignored, then the employee comes up to me tries to snatch it out of my hand to throw it in the trash, we get a little heated in this case I try to explain to him I’m not feeling well and taking for to get my order ready because it’s packed and I’m just quickly eating the snack to get my blood sugar level up, he doesn’t care a single bit and order me to leave. I was left with 2 choices either I comply or I get escorted out over a small matter and lose my money that I spent on the food their. Obviously I complied, then I was waiting and finally I got my food. Upon eating the food it did not taste good however I still managed to finish it because I spent money on it and didn’t feel like wasting it. However while we were eating the employees are so rude they kept coming up to us and were telling us to hurry other people here are also waiting on table, we replied “we’re not robot we will take our time to eat this it’s not our fault that the place is packed and other people can’t find a place to sit and eat, you guys should have a policy where there should be capacity limit, the place literally looks like zoo” And I’m being 100% honest here they have all these other terrible policies where you can’t bring and eat outside food in there, but they won’t have a policy towards capacity limit. Because I know that the majority people there on a weekend especially after when the clubs end go there to eat food however also wait on their ride, and that’s why you’ll see so many people there just sitting and chilling on the tables not ordering or eating food just sitting there for an hour waiting on there ride. However we as the honest customers who are there to actually eat while waiting on a ride shouldn’t be treated this way. Anyways after when I get home their food was absolutely disgusting that I couldn’t stop vomiting the whole night, and the reason isn’t alcohol we did not drink any alcohol that night. I hardly ever drink, I was completely sober. So I was definitely their food that caused me to vomit all night and give me serious stomach pains. Anyways to anyone reading this I would just recommend to stay away from this place because their food is absolutely disgusting, their customers service is absolutely terrible and their employees are rude and...
Read moreI had an awkward experience there at Mark's Famous Donair on the evening of Feb 23, 2025. Normally, when I visit your location with my friends, nothing out of the ordinary ever happens. But this visit left me puzzled.
I ordered chicken tenders and fries after being told burgers weren't available during that time, while my 2 other friends got poutine and a donair combo. Everything seemed normal at first until my friend went to use the washroom. A waiter or busser, who had been friendly with other patrons earlier, immediately approached him as he was getting up from his seat, and told him he can use the washroom without him even asking. Which surprised me since I knew their washroom policy required customers to ask the cashier at the front counter for assistance first usually. Later, when I asked the same waiter for assistance in going to the washroom as well, he instead told me to go to the front counter for help, with a completely different tone and attitude compared to when he interacted with my friend moments before. It seemed like he was willing to assist my friend, but when it was turn to ask. He wasn’t able to unfortunately
This left me feeling like I was treated differently, and it made me wonder if my appearance or even ethnicity played a role in the different treatment I got compared to my friend. For context, I'm asian and my friend is white, while the waiter was black. I've been coming to Whyte Ave for over 15 years and this is the first time I've experienced something like this at Mark's Famous Donair.
When I approached the cashier, she seemed confused by my request at first, which further made an already awkward situation even more awkward, but eventually she let me into the washroom. Despite the experience, I still enjoy the food there and plan to hopefully return in the future, but I wanted to share this to bring awareness to...
Read moreConsistantly here out of necessity with friends after nights of drinking/wandering beautiful Whyte Ave. This being especially more so after the closure of Queen Donair on Whyte due to a fire. Whyte ave is afterall one of 2 party roads in Edmonton. First time poster here today to say this is the worst customer service repeatedly my friends and myself have ever experienced. You can look the same guy week to week in the face and ask for a simple modification to an order such as no tomato, onion, etc. And get your request acknowledged and then right straight up ignored before your very eyes in the natter of 30 seconds.. GOD FORBID you again look them in the eyes and ask for hot sauce. This is the Nightclub of food establishments. In the rush too wrap orders they are consistently wrapping the aluminum foil wrapper into the food. Push drunks out the door and see yah later is clearly the buisnesses motive. I personally feel terrible in writing a review but after being personally let down over 10 times in such a way over the years. (Including waiting 50 minutes for sweet potato fries) This has to be acknowledged. If your an easy drunk looking for something other than a double cheeseburger at Rotten Rons, come here. If your looking for for a meal and employees/ownership that give you a great meal and treat you like a human instead of cattle. Try pretty well anywhere...
