Pho Phat — Restaurant in Greater Strathcona

Stumbling across the restaurant nostalgic moments of Saigon set in, similiar Boxed store front signage and marble Tiles to the food! The pho was a perfect blend of flavor,nothing to over powering just right, and you cant complain about the portion size and the dine in price that goes along with it. Where can you find a 11.99 bowl of hot savoury pho now adays.

The interior was tidy, the menu was extensive, even Submarines were offered and an amazing ice coffee with specialty coffee beans found only here.

I also had the Bun Bo Hue which hit the right punch of authentic shrimp paste flavor and spice! I'll need to jump into the vermicelli and rice bowls another day but if your looking for a great comfort meal and a hot bowl of pho with the colder season to come,this is it!

Thought id mention this too but the other day I saw a man order one bowl of dine in Pho special asked for additional cuts of all the meats and blasted the server for charging him for all the additional he requested, claiming he's never ever had to pay for it. Well all I can say was he found an awesome deal and got lucky all those other times with underknowlegeded front service, and when being brought to attention he threaten to call the police ????? Sighhh... even macdonalds charges me for all the extras even mayo...never mind...

I was nearby Pho Phat and decided to drop in for lunch. It's located on Whyte Ave in a quieter section of it, so parking isn't bad. I ordered my regular order of Pho and spring rolls, love Vietnamese spring rolls. I also got an iced Vietnamese coffee. Pho Phat is a nice restaurant on the inside, one of the things I noticed was they had very nice serving dishes for their Chilli oil and they had some pickled Jalapeno looking things. I didn't try them, but it was nice to see. The Pho was very tasty. Really nice noodles and broth. Just very little meat. Like the least amount of meat I've seen in a bowl of Pho. That being said, their lunch time special is $12 for a bowl. Personally, I'd rather pay $18 and get a proper bowl with more meat than this discounted but reduced quantity of meat. I guess because it's on Whyte and they want to appeal to students who don't have money, this is what they need to do. Again, I can't fault them, that's why Im giving 5 stars, the price is on par with the food, but personally, I'd rather spend more...

I’ve had it twice in person and it was amazing. Then it was 5 star…

However as of Feb 3 2025, I ordered my usual pho on Uber eats and this time a long black hair was wrapped in with the beef in the plastic wrap… so I cried because… like I have to feed it to my cat now and throw out the noodles and go pho-less…

I reported it to Uber but I have to wait and it’s too late to get a replacement order.

So I’m crying and writing this.

This was my favourite pho the only pho I trusted… I’m genuinely sobbing because it’s hard enough for me to try new food places… now I have to find another one. Right now I’m also bald and I just have never received such a presentation of hair in my food before… I feel neglected and I think the staff should wear hair nets… please update hygiene policy because I have noticed staff not wearing hair nets now I have hair in my soup and everything...
