Amici's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Grimsby

I don't usually write reviews.. I don't like to attach my name or face to anything at risk damaging my business. My business is based on my word honesty and trust and the truth. Unless I believe in a place and like it 100%. I won't write a review. That's why this is only my second review so far.

I don't eat fast food. Not because its bad for you.. It's because its taste like trash. Low quality tastless, substandard, things that resembles food. Looks and taste the way dog food smells. I haven't eaten Mc Donalds, pizza pazza, and other fast food places in 4 years.. I hate all chain food, frozen tasteless garbage, I'd rather eat the bag it came in. I'm very picky in what I eat.. I'm a bit of a food snob..

This place is amazing, flavorful, fresh. The pizza taste like it was fresh from Italy. I even eat the crust. And the wings... Medium are same as the New York butter, but better. I used to go to Honneys & Sam's is Buffalo just to get wings. Not any more. These wings are better than the USA wings.

Forget about all the other chain pizza places and try this one. I come all the way from Hamilton mountain just to get their pizza and wings. My wife and 3 kids also love it. Before amichies when my wife and kids wanted pizza I would get them 1 large and a dozen wings. The kids would eat 1 slice each and 1-2 wings each, I would make a sandwich. Now I have to get 2 large and 40 wings and kids eat 2 - 5 slices and 4 - 8 wings each.

I will garuntee you will love this place, if your not happy. I'll give you 20% off my services. That would more than cover the cost of a pizza. So you have nothing to lose.. (Unless your favorite pizza place is Pizza Pizza, you will lose them forever after...

We placed an order for 2XL pizza's and 5 pounds of wings through skip the dishes. We got our pizzas and 2 pounds of wings(which were fresh and AMAZING) but shy 3 pounds so we called the store(5:15pm), the gentleman on the phone said the skip driver forgot the box with the other 3 pounds of wings. No biggie, accidents happen. The gentleman at Amici's instructs me to refund part of my order through skip and the store will rebill(at a discounted rate) me for the 3 pounds of wings directly and deliver them as soon as we are off the phone, sounds great right?! Well then an hour and a half go by(6:45pm) still no wings!! so I call again, The gentleman on the phone now says "He'll be pulling in your driveway any minute". finally at 7:15pm the driver pulls in saying "it was really busy, we had a lot of local deliveries" (We are only in Beamsville 9 minutes from the store) he was very nice and seemed to feel bad about the situation but in other words the store kept bumping my order back and back and back until all their closer deliveries were done and to hell how long my family had to wait for the rest of our order. And its not like they remade the wings, no that would have been to costly for them so instead they send out 3 pounds of wings that have been sitting on a shelf for the past 2 and a half hours and are now cold and hard. We order often from Amici's between family gatherings and events we host but unfortunately because of this we will be taking our business elsewhere, a very easy solution would have been for the guy to just tell me they were to busy to send there driver that far or to just leave it at "to refund part of my order...

I tried Amici’s after the ownership had changed to see how it compares to the original. Amicis has been in Grimsby for decades. I was a bit disappointed to find out of a new owner and changed recipes. I just didn’t want to see another shawarma or gyro style pizza place. They do have that and it’s not good. Gyro is Greek and Shawarma is middle eastern. The gyro is the same spinning coagulated pre-made thing that everyone already has. Stay away.

Our pizzas were made fantastic. They had a lot of toppings. The crust is far thicker than the old Amicis so next time I’ll order thinner crust. Stick to the basics and you get a fantastic pizza. The prices are fair and the service is good. I’m not sure why they ask for tips on pick up. This place does it and so does Gino’s. I’m not cheap but come on, I’m picking up my own pizza. You’re not sitting me down for a meal or delivering it to me.

I’ll give this place 5 stars and hope they continue to separate themselves from the others. Grimsby is a small town with a lot of pizza places. Gino’s ran king for a long time but competition is catching up. These small guys are better than all the chains generally.
