Supporting local and small businesses has always been very important to us. During the Covid-19 , with so many businesses struggling to stay afloat, it has become increasingly important to support these businesses wherever and whenever we can. We have been trying to find different restaurants around town to do weekly (Now up to 2 -3 x weekly) orders. This brought us to try Park Grocery. We had been meaning to try them for a while, but just never got around to it. One day I got a sponsored post on instagram suggesting Park Grocery and their Sunday Pot roast dinner. Ummmm, yes please. Checking out their website, they did say that it needs to be ordered in advance, but I tried anyway. Placing an order on line through their website was very easy. We selected our items, and then our pick up time.
When we arrived it was just about ready and we were good to go - curbside pick up with zero contact. The food is plentiful. Meals are fresh and full of flavour. Everything was delicious, and better than a home made Sunday pot roast dinner. We loved this meal so much, that we have added park Grocery into our regular rotation of places we order take out from around Guelph. We have had the roasted chicken dinner, and the beef brisket dinners as well. All very tasty. The Service from the staff is amazing, they are always very friendly and appreciative of the business. I recently learned that they also pay their employees a living wage, which encourages us to eat there more often to encourage this kind of ethical practice. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality and volume of food you receive in every order. I highly recommend ordering your next take out dinner from Park Grocery.

Had dinner at the Park Eatery Friday night. It was quite busy, we were told it would be about 10 minutes for a table, it probably took only 5! This restaurant is located in an old building which only adds to the charm. Our waitress was fun and efficient. Tonight we had the Cuban Sandwich and the Smoked Brisket Sandwich. The Brisket was perfectly cooked and the meat portion was ample. The fries were delicious, just the right amount of crunchiness!! The Cuban Sandwich was quite large, I couldn’t finish it… so now I have a yummy lunch tomorrow. It was an awesome delicious mess. We finished our dinner with the Oatmeal Nutella Square. For me, I would have loved even more Nutella, but that’s just me! These were a good size as well, our waitress told us we could easily share one. We didn’t listen to her suggestion thinking we had this!!! She won; we both ended up bringing half of our dessert home 🤣 The parking can sometimes be a little tricky when the restaurant is busy. It’s not a huge parking lot, but it usually works out. There is also parking on the street a little away from the restaurant which helps.

So, just returned home from our Brunch at Park Eatery. We've frequented Park many times, starting when they first opened up. Our first visit was pretty good(ish), but they needed to work out some kinks in the Service and Food, which is to be expected. I've been dining out for over 40 years and really enjoy doing so. Never have I given a bad review as it's an extremely hard business and so many things can go wrong that are out of your control. I've had plenty of bad experiences in restaurants over the decades, but having deep rooted ties in this industry, I will never give a bad review out of pure respect and admiration for all those that work within. Until now. Today we walked in, and as expected, had a bit of a wait to be seated. Luckily, three seats were available at the front to wait for a table to open up. Great, order some coffee's and chill until our table is ready. Only a half hour, no big deal. Problem is, 3 sets of people walk in after we've been sitting for ten minutes, one sits in the front get's her coffee....another walks in a few minutes later, get's his coffee to go and a third couple walk in get their coffee's and sit at the front and wait for their table. We looked at each other stunned. It really wasn't that busy in there. Politely get up and ask, "I'm sorry, we're still waiting for our coffee's". Strike one. Twenty minutes go by and our coffee's show up. Get seated, order our food which included 2 orders of Eggs Benedict. One order had hard boiled eggs instead of poached. This is what makes Eggs Bennie, well....Eggs Bennie. Strike two. Again, politely let the server know when she came over to check on our first bites that one order had hard boiled eggs. She did offer to take them back to the kitchen, but not wanting to wait for another order, we simply said, "That's OK, if you could let the kitchen know what happened so they can keep an eye on subsequent orders." So we're waiting for our bill and I noticed someone in the kitchen walk by and politely called him over that one order had hard boiled eggs instead of poached, his response..."OK". What? No apology? Strike three. Now, back to my life in this industry. The bill comes, that hard boiled egg order is on the bill. If that happened in most restaurants, you'd get an apology and that one item on the order would be comped. Is there a...

Love this place as a go-to for hearty local comfort food. While I have no reference of what a proper Texas brisket is, this is one of the best I've personally had and I've come back for it. Even the side fries are of the highest quality and seem hand cut and fresh fried. Service had always been kind and knowledgeable the first two times, unfortunately the last time was a clear disappointment. Our server had absolutely no clue what the current beers on tap were, and had to go back and ask the kitchen for the list. When she returned and listed brand names off, I asked what type of beer one she listed was, she looked embarrassed and motioned she had to go back and ask again. I decided to help put her out of her misery by just going with the Welly pilsner to make the interaction less gruelling for everyone at the table. A forgivable mistake for someone new, but very frustrating when I was looking forward to trying your fresh taps and was unable to, otherwise have to wait another 5mins to simply be told what's an IPA or what's a sour. After getting our drinks, and having spent nearly 15mins reviewing the menu at his point, we happily went to order our brisket mains, only to then have our server once again turn red and embarrassingly admit they weren't serving that today. The item I intentionally took my family to this place for, otherwise would have returned back at a later date to enjoy it had we known... Well when she's taking our order, we're kinda locked in, so we decided to just take whatever was available and quickly go with mushroom melt burgers and cuban sandwiches. Great, not what we came for, but I guess it'll do. Sure, the burgers and sandwiches were good quality, but it was a huge disappointment to be let down in BOTH the beer and food I intentionally brought guests to your establishment for. Will I return, hopefully someday, but please train your staff better because that poor interaction took your establishment from a 9/10 to a 6/10 in my...

I'm from out of town, so completely unbias opinion on a location I'd likely never be back to again anyways, so I am strictly leaving this so others don't have to handle the same experience.

If you'd like to skip to the negative aspect specifically it's the 2nd last paragraph.

These events were witnessed by multiple customers.

We were very excited to try this restaurant, and the host Jobathan was very polite, but when we were told to help ourselves to the pre poured water pitchers, and brought them to the table, all 3 pitchers were dirty with things floating in the water.

I went to say there was stuff in the water, and didn't receive help

The same host Jonathan asked why we didn't have water and we told him there was stuff in the water, so he promptly helped and got us fresh iced water, and we thought that was very kind of him.

Then as we were just talking enjoying our drinks, the acting manager Lindsay came out of nowhere, and told us that we swore at our server, and that we are lucky we aren't being kicked out. So we went to the bar and asked the host Jonathan if anybody was rude or swore at him and he immediately said no, and looked completely confused as to what was happening. Lindsay continued to tell us we were rude, and make accusations that made no sense, as Jonathan still looked confused so we asked for a refund and left.

Certainly not recommended when the host Jonathan and us seemed to be having a pleasant night, and the acting manager comes out of nowhere to make accusations that did not make any sense and witnessed by other customers. The one and only star was for the pleasant helpful host Jonathan, and the polite (I believe chef) that helped with a dirty...
