We were in downtown Guelph on a sunny Friday in February and decided to stay for dinner. Diana Downtown was a short walk from where we were and I suppose its curb appeal helped with our selection. Their friendly and attentive staff welcomed us and showed us to their large dining rooms. One space seems to feature stone walls and artwork which may or may not be set aside as an event space while the main dining room is striking with its red painted walls and black trim work. Large fabric wall hangings featuring Ganesha are prominent mixed with some African artwork here. Washrooms are located in the basement and a ground floor washroom available for people with mobility issues. We started with peppermint tea and a Nirvana non-alcoholic drink followed with Avocado spring rolls. For our main dishes it was a vegetarian curry combo and a meat curry combo both with choice of Naan and rice. The vegetarian curry also comes with a choice of side too. All nicely presented and well timed. Excellent table service provided. We had to take some food home due to the large size portions in a friendly messaged take away bag. Moderately priced $$, great value, 2 hour street parking available. If you're in the Guelph area I recommend...
Read moreWent here yesterday for a birthday party. There was already a reservation set up for us so we were sat down fairly quickly. When we sat down, our server came back to our table and asked what we wanted for drinks and she got them for us. We also were pretty quick to order as everyone in the group ordered Butter Chicken, and I ordered Cheesy Pasta. Our orders kind of took a while...even the server had to apologize for it being slightly delayed. Our group didn't bother with it too much as we were too busy chatting amongst ourselves. Everyone got their food without any mistakes or problems, and when mine came everyone said how my dish looked delicious. The Creamy Pasta is really delicious to look at and eat! Kind of had a similar taste to that of KD Mac and Cheese, but that was great to me :) It also came with garlic bread and it was great to me. The taste, and presentation was as expected. Our server was pretty good as well. I think some people has eaten here before and had recognized her as being a new server. Either way, she did a good job. She was polite, and always ensured that our drinks were topped off. I would recommend. However, some comments from our table was that to be careful when ordering...
Read moreSo back in 2019 I wrote a star review for this same issue. I felt bad, took the review down and just have not returned.. until today.
I ordered a Dahl soup. This restaurant used to make an amazing Dahl soup. It used to be homemade and made with love and perfect.
This soup was a joke. It was simply gross. Like really gross. A thousand times worse than 2019.
Firstly the only flavor I can taste is burnt toast. Yes burnt toast. Clearly potato starch was added or tapioca to thicken the garbage scrapings they have been reheating. My spoon literally could barely penetrate it, I'm curious what the texture will be like when the rest cools down.. probably more disgusting.
Are you new owners running this place that are just cheap skates that can't serve food with love? Or are you the same owners that just don't care anymore?
Last time you told me to call you and let you know how you can make things right. All I can say is just stop serving garbage Dahl soup.
Let me know here how you can make...
