Shhh! Don't go telling everyone you've stumbled upon such a fancy place, you'll know right when you've walked in you're in a spot Guelph has kept to itself. For over half a decade it's been helping people in this town manage to get buzzed in the fanciest way they can. You'll be taken care of with the earnestness of a guest in one's bedroom once you've seated yourself at the bar, the selection is a barrier of entry as the prices may be daunting to one looking to put themselves in a drunken state as cheap as possible, but it should be clear such a space hopes to share a comfort in an delectable exploration of the finer things. Those things being a warm atmosphere and an embrace of a drinking spot looking for a chance to expand your taste, the drink selection literally crossing borders. The house wine at the time I arrived was a delicious blend with a nice kick in the aftertaste, don't be afraid to ask for a sample to taste if you're interested and on the line for a glass.
I hope you manage to find yourself in such a state that you can partake in the kind of delight Two Faces brings, I haven't seen anybody walk out...
Read moreStaff is rude and will yell at you for not tipping (because they're rude?), and the atmosphere is mediocre - go somewhere else.
Service: My friend and I asked the server behind the bar if we could sit anywhere and she gave a 'find a seat somewhere or get out' attitude with a shrug — the rudeness carried on when we were trying to decide which wine to try first (i.e., she seemed impatient when we couldn't decide). Atmosphere: MISTY.... DAMP. I was reluctant to step in based on what I saw from the outside but this was a place I wanted to try... You can't see anything through the windows because they're all steamy. It seems as if there's no ventilation, and it smells like a swarm of the plants they have.
UPDATE: 1) I was in the area at night again and windows were still steamy from the outside so no lie there. 2) There was only one girl on staff when I went so unless whoever replied to my review was her, you have no idea what your...
Read moreOK, stop reading and just go. Go now. If you're still reading this and wondering why, it's because you searched for wine bar and this is THE place in Guelph you have been looking for. I have been socializing in Guelph for years ad finally, tonight, found what has been missing. A simple, non complicated wine bar that sells ... wine. Oh yeah, you can get beer too, but it's a wine bar. The atmosphere was great, the staff amazing and close one eye, squint put the window, grab the glass and take a long draw ... you could be in a small city in the South of France. Assuming it's not winter and there's no snow...
