Wok's Taste — Restaurant in Guelph

We ordered takeaway from Wok's Taste in late December 2019. The restaurant was incredibly accommodating of our gluten free and vegan needs and made ordering super easy. We called in a large order for 8 people (for delivery) and they were able to get it all together in about 40 min - probably more like 35 min. Not only did the restaurant provide suggestions and helpful info when we called, they were all too happy to offer to veganize many popular dishes, and we did not have to explain that we needed the dishes to be animal free, oyster sauce free and egg free. The cost was reasonable, and the friend that picked up the food for us exclaimed how clean and pleasant the restaurant was on arrival to pick up the order (which was waiting for pick up, and which was still hot, on arrival at our home). (Dinner for 8 was in the $70. range before tax. Yes! Less than $10. per person!) The pleasant nature of the order taker, the willingness to accommodate our vegan order and the speed with which our order was assembled guarantees that we'll order from Wok's Taste again, in the near future. Please note, the fortune cookies at Wok's Taste are not vegan - there are other Chinese food restaurants in Guelph that do offer vegan fortune cookies, but this is of no consequence as our experience with Wok's Taste has been great. Authentic Chinese restaurant with a large menu. Dishes are tasty, deep fried food, a light oil taste not the usual old oil taste in many restaurants. Portions are a good size and prices at an average budget. We ordered the deep fried pork with chilies, sizzling satay, three types of seafood with vegetables, and garlic gylan. Excellent pork dish, satay was very light in taste, but meat was so tender. Lots of shrimp, squid, and fish in the seafood, not at all sparingly like other restaurants. The squid in the dish was not rubbery at all, and the sauce was fantastic. There was a shortage of gylan. However, we willingly accepted a substitute when advised in advance, so there was no issue. $72 for a large dinner for three with lots of leftovers. No hesistation to place my stamp of approval, and we will be back, especially as they do have a small selection of dim sum available, too. Very enjoyable, thank you. A Thursday night and parking was difficult due to being across from the public skating rink, so be prepared to have to hunt for a spot. Restaraunt priority is the food, so keep a thought that the lack of ambiance and decor is made up for by the food taste...

Wok's Taste has continued to be my go-to when after Chinese cuisine (the takeout variety) for delivery or to dine-in when I'm in the area if visiting Guelph City Hall just down the street.

I've never had issues ordering out with family or friends in my experience with the food arriving on time, hot and fresh. I tend to enjoy fried rice based dishes but I truly must recommend the eggplant with black bean sauce.

Whenever I decided to have my meal in the restaurant the atmosphere has always been enjoyable. I've had many fun brief conversations with some patrons and has been a good spot to use my rusty Chinese (Mandarin & Wu) dear oh dear.

The music running is appropriate and not loud like some places, everything is kept clean and the staff have always been attentive and polite on my visits. It can be busy some evenings bustling with customers talking and enjoying their meals but never chaotic.
