Finally tried here for lunch around 12:30 on a Tuesday in April 2016. Free parking on site is nice. When I walked in the door, there were only two other customers in the place. Capacity I'd say for 50, with eight booths running in a straight row the length of the long, narrow layout, a couple of tables at the front window, and a few more at the rear where it's a bit darker. Simply decorated. There's a display case of desserts and the cash register right by the door, with the kitchen hidden in back. Greeted immediately by a friendly gentleman whom I'm guessing is the owner or manager? I didn't ask. Good menu selection. I tried the mixed veggie plate (Babaganog, hummus, two falafel patties and bourak. Served with warm pita bread. 13.99) which was more than I could finish. Maybe for dinner I could. All tasty and fresh, with extra soft falafel (I hate mine hard). Several other things on the menu I'd like to try, and more likely come back at night when I have a bigger appetite or don't have to go back to my desk for the afternoon. 2nd visit here: for lunch on a cloudy Tuesday in November 2018. Took a table near the front, the place was about half full at 11:45ish. Friendly service and our waters were topped up constantly. I tried the Schawarma chicken wrap (10.99) with side salad and it was delicious. The grilled soft tortilla had a greasiness to it that I really liked, the lettuce was very green and fresh, just a good overall flavor, as well as the salad dressing which seemed to me to have a strong dill flavor. My friend found it had a different, but very good taste as well. We started by splitting the 4-piece beef Fatayers (5.99 pastry pie stuffed with meat, cheese, spinach, baked), which were delicious as well, just good for sharing. For an entree, he got the Lamb Kofta Kebab (14.99 for a single skewer and salad) which was very good. To drink, I decided to try the Turkish coffee, which I don't see on their online menu, but I loved it. It's 'brewed' stovetop in a small pot (Cezve) with your desired amount of sugar, water and coffee, creating a bit of foam and the grounds are left in it. Cute little cup it's served with is the same size as you'd get a shot of espresso basically, so not your standard cup o coffee, but much more interesting and I found it strong and creamy in texture. I look forward to coming back...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant many times but not for a couple years. We had brought a group of friends based on our recommendation. Unfortunately, the food was largely a miss this time. The hummus was totally lacking in flavour. We passed it around to the entire table and we all agreed that it was entirely bland. The fatayer which has increased in price by about $4 over the past few years was totally unacceptable. It was clearly just taken out the fridge and reheated in a microwave so the crust was unpleasantly soft rather than the lovely crispness we expected. Fortunately the Shish Taowq chicken was tender and delicious so no complaints there. The fish was overcooked. The service was friendly but largely inattentive which was surprising as the restaurant was basically empty. I’m pretty sure the main chef here who is amazing was not working as I would be very surprised the some of the food we were served was allowed to leave...
Read moreI had a visit yesterday at 715 pm foe two people. We had the ramadan menu and ordered also a mixed appetizer plate .
soup was disgusting and was full of tumeric and resembled nothing of lentil soup. We did not finish it .
the sambosak was mushy and the filling was not tasteful and had a weird taste .
appetizer plate nothing is fresh about it . The falafel was cooked the previous day and reheated. I have pictures of all the food so I will be posting that on other sites as well. The hummus was just tahini and lemon . It was so runny . The grape leaves were not tasteful and just full of rice nothing else . Really disgusting.
the main dish eggplant kebab. The kebab was still pink inside and the eggplant was dry and my wife did not finish her plate but I ate what I can as I was fasting
