Have had breakfast here at least 20 times with the same friend since this location has opened. It's nicely quiet on weekdays compared to weekends. Friendly owners and staff. The menu is broad and food consistently made. Large portions that will leave you full. The bill usually comes to $50 plus tip for these breakfasts plus coffees, so adds up fast. A favorite item is the Keto breakfast (bacon, egg, whole avocado topped with onions & peppers, served with ramekin of berries. It used to come with nuts and/or almonds, which I loved. They took that away, unfortunately, but the meal itself is still decent. The French Toast Crisp you have the choice of two or three slices, and two is more than plenty as you get a good amount of berries, English cream and raspberry sauce heavily drizzled. For a sweet menu item, I don't walk away feeling bad after eating this from sugar overload. The Reese's pancakes are delicious, but I could only force myself to eat two of the three bc it's big enough to be dessert for three people. I like the Huevos Rancheros but would find it better with corn vs flour tortillas, and some of the toppings are cold, which make the egg turn cold fast. You can request the warm and cold items be separated on the plate though. The Mexican skillet is good and massive. I ask for it without the steak bc I just am not a lover of steak for breakfast, getting more veg added. My friend usually gets the Black & Blue breakfast, asking for all bacon vs bacon & sausage, eggs over-done, toast, a chocolate chip pancake & blueberry pancake.
Sept 23/23: first customers of the day to arrive at 7am on a Thursday. Very friendly server who is new to us. Got my friend's egg order exactly how he likes it -basically burnt. I tried the Go Bananas french toast for the first time. Very good. Choice of two or three slices (two is plenty). It's definitely a dessert breakfast, however wasn't too sweet or rich. Lots of chocolate and English cream drizzle, missing the mint that's listed on the menu, but enjoyed nonetheless. The order came out relatively quickly, leaving enough time for us to drive the 3kms to work, all within an hour of arrival. Perks of being the only customer, I suppose.
Nov 15/23: back again at 7am. I tried the Sante Fe Eggs Benny (spicy hollandaise, black beans, peppers, onion) which was filling. Suggestion that they'd melt the cheese vs putting a cold slice on it, but still decent. My friend's Mish Mash omelette was very good, with lots of meat,...

2 adults, one toddler, $97.00.
The food is really good, they have a kitchen that knows whats they're doing. Wait time is low and quality, attention to detai is good. Order was accurate. The atmosphere is very open, bright and loud. The music made me feel like I was in a domician buffet, I enjoyed it but it felt odd for the time of day and where we were.
Where this place fell off was the service. Bare minimum, get you in and get you out. We had a few different types of drinks, smoothies, coffee, teas, side dishes etc.. multiple buss employees walked by empty handed and looked at out table piling with dishes, as did the server(s). It was annoying because if youre going to charge what they do for breakfast I believe there is a level of service that should follow. We were not asked about anything else between receiving food and paying for it.
Our boy had the rainbow pancakes. Maybe our fault for not asking, but they put a lot of food dye in each pancake for color. He cant eat that stuff, we kindly mentioned that to the server once she came with the bill. (We were hoping to address it eariler but we never had the chance). The server shrugged it off and asked if we wanted a take out container. Not the resolution I was expecting but nothing was said further.
Like I said, bare minimum service, get you in and get you out. Expensive, food is good. This would of been a five star review if they relaxed the music, mentioned the food dye on the childerns menu and if service was more attentive. I would come back and try it again, and will update the...
Read moreHad a horrible experience today. I have been to Pur many times on the Dartmouth side. I was in to Halifax for a medical appointment so I decided to give the Young Street location a try.
I waited at the door almost 5 minutes to be seated. There was only one server but she only had one customer. Instead she was standing in the kitchen on her phone and showing pictures to other employees in the kitchen.
I decided to go in and take a seat. (only one table was being used in the whole restaurant). The server immediately came to me and said "you need to wait to be seated, you can't sit here".
I mentioned that I would be happy to move and that I just needed to sit and not stand. The waitress said "We are extremely busy and you will have to wait to be seated"
Not sure how they considered 1 table in a restaurant of 30+ tables busy.
I simply got up and walked out.
Anyway went over to another restaurant a couple of streets over that was full but they seated me immediately.
Not sure how Pur & Simple on Young Street pays their bills but the owner needs to address this. No wonder they were a ghost town.
**Edit just looked up the location on google and the server was the owner according to a photo. I Guess they just don't...
