OMG where to start lol?! Okay, here goes. I don’t think I’ve ever paid $15.50 for a pint of locally brewed lager. But that’s what this place charges for a blonde nine locks pint. I thought I was in Monaco for a moment. Secondly, the food was not only ridiculously priced but also horrific. I haven’t had a sausage that tasted that bad since I was in the budget budget restaurant chain in England called Jenny’s, and broke af. And that was a long time ago. To make matters worse, the cook had somehow managed to render it rather well done, which had somehow turned the sausages skinned to the rubber on my car’s tires. The eggs were OK, so I would say that they and some toast were about the only things worth eating - even the diced fried potatoes tasted like they had just come out of the freezer. Finally, the server was a car crash. I asked to pay extra to have some bacon with my meal. It never turned up. I didn’t say anything. But they had it on my bill at the end. I didn’t bother to tell them, at that stage it felt best to cut and run. I bought my friend a modest basket of sweet potato fries, which came to $13.50. It’s fried potato FFS, and this ain’t no boutique resto. Total bill, including 15% service charge (I felt sorry for my server, not upset), $50 lol...
Read moreI was a regular at their Wednesday trivia. I loved going and it was always a good time. However, slowly it started to get worse. The prices of the food started to rise, but quality went down, and several good items were taken off the menu.
Freeman’s used to have absolutely stellar service, but over the last four or five weeks, it’s has gotten worse. The last handful of times I went, I was either not able to order for nearly 20 minutes after sitting down, ordered something and never received it, or was not given my bill (I had to track somebody down to pay my bill after all my friends had already had their bills brought but not mine).
The most recent time I went, we order two pizzas and my friend got a burger. Only one of the pizzas actually came, we had to remind them about the second one, which came half an hour later and was burnt, and my friend never received his burger but that didn’t stop them from trying to charge him.
It really sucks to be having such a negative experience lately because I used to love going to Freeman’s. It was a great place with great service, and yeah the prices were never amazing, but it was usually worth it. Now I can’t really say...
Read moreI was proud to call Freemans Fairview "My bar."
This is where I took my friends for a drink, it's where I've been going to trivia for years, it's where the staff know my name, it's where I've memorized the menu. I loved coming here.
But in the past month or two, this place has quickly devolved into a shell of what I once knew. The food is more expensive across the board, they've swapped out some of their ingredients for cheaper ones and it shows (their beef hamburger patty's specifically are far crys from what they used to be), and service has completely deteriorated. I love the wait staff, but the last four visits I've had to ask for food, or drinks, or my bill, more than once. Tonight was the last straw, as we ordered three entres and only one came. Then, after reminding the wait staff, another ten minutes later a second entre came out, burnt. The third one never came.
I'm currently shopping for a new weekly trivia spot. I hope they see this message and improve...
