I had a very disappointing experience here and will NEVER be returning. Nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone again.
I was really sick but had to get the strength to go buy food. I got to Hally’s craft ordered asun rice , plantain and chicken. The young girl that’s always there taking orders already had a weird attitude but I did not focus on it cause I was already weak and just wanted to take my food and go. Thankfully while I was ordering, one of the cooks was also at the counter and clearly heard my order that I said asun rice chicken and plantain. The lady taking it served only the rice and told me to come pay(thinking about it now this was on purpose to scam me). I said what about the chicken and plantain. The cook that was around turned to the girl and said “she wants chicken and plantain”. The girl told me to come pay while she packed it. I paid and she came back with only the plantain????. I said what about the chicken. She said she didn’t hear me say chicken. I said okay please add chicken. She then said it’s extra I said fine I’ll pay. All of a sudden She said she can’t give me chicken because she doesn’t have enough chicken for the amount of rice left???? First of all how is that mine problem?? And why didn’t she say that before telling me to pay???.
I said but why didn’t you say this earlier, she said cause she didn’t hear me say chicken. I said but the second girl standing beside you when I spoke repeated my order clearly saying I said chicken and plantain. I told her to call the girl to confirm what I asked for so that she knows I actually asked for it since she was claiming to not have heard. She said she can’t go and ask that there’s nothing she can do???? I said okay I’m not eating anymore, give me refund , and yup, she refused to refund me claiming that they don’t do refunds. ??? Just say it armed robbery cause why did you make me pay knowing you weren’t gonna give me what I asked for.
I said I can’t eat rice without having a main protein and she said that there is already prices of meat chopped up in the rice and I should have that??? I had not even taken the food bag from her ! what would it take them to simply refund my money or go to the back and confirm from the cook that heard my full order ????
This is completely unprofessional!! If a customer pays for food they didn’t receive, the right thing is to either fix the order or issue a refund. Instead, I was left frustrated, with staff who showed no accountability.
Like I said I will not be coming back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone who values honesty, good customer service, or proper food service standards. Please if you go there make sure your full order is in front of you before paying because this is how they scam you. They will be hearing from my bank! I don’t care how little the money is, this is rubbish!
I have seen your response and ofcourse ! You will try to cover your actions! Lies! I was asked to BUY! another plate if I wanted the chicken. I’m trying to get my refund and you want me to pay another $40 to get protein that I asked for ???? I challenge you to post the CCTV footage in full and see if it didn’t happen exactly how I said and if I didn’t ask for rice chicken and asun from the START! You claim she couldn’t process the refund without a manger. I clearly asked her to call the owner and she said she can’t that she’s the one in charge!!! You guys are messing with the wrong person! And I will not take...
Read moreTook my kids there to try African cuisine. The food was pre-cooked and cold. We asked for a pricelist but the person at the counter said that they do not have a pricelist, I needed to select the dish first and then she would give us the price. So my elder chooses rice and chicken. The price of this dish is $29 plus tax. So one person eats for $33. Since this was way too expensive, the rest of us didn't order. I had to ask my other kid to share with her sister. This is not a restaurant where you are served at the table. Food is not freshly prepared but pre-cooked yet more expensive than some fine dine restaurants downtown. I am terribly disappointed by both service and food. And this is definitely not value for money. The quantity of rice was ofcourse was a lot for a person but not needed. Spending 30-40$ per person for a family of 4 is something we would do on a special occasion not for a dinner after work on a...
Read moreI promised to leave a fair review only after actually eating the food.
Here it is:
Food (4.8/5.0) I had the jollof rice, and it delivered all the classic effects of a true Nigerian party-style dish—smoky, aromatic, spicy, and simply delicious. Both the turkey and chicken were grilled to perfection.
Service (5.0/5.0) Apparently, this is a family-run business, and it shows—in the best way. The owner, her mother (grandma), daughter, and others were all warm, friendly, and made me feel like an old friend. Customer service doesn't get better than this.
Facility (4.5/5.0) The restaurant is clean and well-organized. My only challenge was parking. I had to squeeze into the only available spot. There may be additional parking available at the rear of the building.
Verdict: Highly recommended. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I’ll...
