Mary Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Halifax

First time I ever tried eating there.

So what was it like?

Well, in a word, awesome.

I've always been a fan of KFC, since back when they went by their full name Kentucky Fried Chicken, but in the last few years I really felt that KFC was slipping. KFC chicken doesn't have that same good taste - and worse yet, they split the big keel piece of chicken, which means it dries out.

Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters are awesome, like I said. Old-school fried chicken, with big tasty pieces. The taters were good and my wife really enjoyed the gravy.

And their New Orleans style banana and nilla pudding is a real sweet treat.

The counter girl was very helpful. She reminded me about the gravy, which I never think of. And she made sure that to check the date made on our banana pudding when the first container she took out didn't have a best before date on it.

If someone asked me about the worst chicken wings I ever ate in my life, I will without hesitation tell them about the time I ordered wings from this place. The staff and owner should be proud that they are best at something... even if that was about being best at making such awful wings that someone could say with confidence that Mary Browns makes the worst wings they ate in their entire life. I waited 25 mins after ordering the wings because they had to open up a new bag of frozen wings. After total of 35 mins in the store for the order plus 20 mins of driving there and back, I was rewarded with the worst wings in my life. The most vivid memories about these wings were that they were piping hot on the outside, and dripping with blood and raw chicken juice on the inside. It's not funny, because...

Note that I did not go to the restaurant and am only grading it on the food. I decided to walk down to the africville museum and relax by the basin. It was quite hot however, so i needed a drink so i skipped the dishes this place and decided to get some food along with some drinks. I got the 4piece chicken and taters combo. I must say it was delicious, the taters were seasoned perfectly, big and chunky, and had the perfect crisp on the outside and soft fluffy inside. I didnt get a fork in my bag so I used the taters to eat my coslaw and it combined perfectly on a summer day. The chicken was delicious and crispy on the outside and super tender and I have to say the white meat was jaw dropping the only thing is i wasnt too keen on the dark meat pieces, just a tad bit greasy, all and all Id...
