Having eaten many times at the Canning location (the original NS store for this brand), I was very excited when the Halifax location finally opened. However, there are definitely some wrinkles they need to iron out.
The staff was friendly, polite and courteous. But it was very clear that they were dealing with supply chain/ordering issues, perhaps a lack of training and expediting issues.
So let's get into our order. We had a medium poutine, a South Philly burger and a junior chicken burger.
The poutine was excellent, made with the same high quality fries I've experienced at the Canning location with lots of sauce and cheese curds. And it was more than ample for my girlfriend and I to share. Definitely no complaints about that.
The South Philly burger was good, but something was missing, I've had the same burger from Canning and the flavour just wasn't there at the Halifax restaurant. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it should have stayed on the flat top a little longer to get a better sear and maybe been hit with a little more seasoning. Also, they didn't have any bacon and they were out of several sauces and cheeses.
Now, the junior chicken is where the wheels really fall off. We got our poutine and my South Philly burger (had to back to the counter to request my drink a second time). We ate most of the poutine, I was halfway through my burger, around 10-15 mins into the meal, and still waiting on the chicken burger. After another trip to the counter, we finally got it. Although I kind of wish we hadn't. It turned out to be a sad, paper thin, compressed chicken product, on a bun, with nothing but a modicum of ketchup. Even though the picture on the menu showed many other toppings. When asked, the staff said, it just comes with ketchup. It was truly one of the saddest chicken burgers I've seen.
Overall, I'll definitely give this location another try. But I sincerely hope that they get their issues figured out, so that one location doesn't damage an otherwise quality brand.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the company in Canning and having a great conversation with him last year. He was a very down to earth, nice guy and seemed very dedicated to his brand. With any luck, he'll get the Quinpool location straightened out and really show Halifax what the Philthy Philly's brand...
Read moreThe whole experience in the place is very below par. If you want your order to not feel like an interrogation, order through a delivery service, don't go it. The restaurant is greasy, I don't know if the range hoods aren't being used, or if they're blocked, but the whole place is coated in grease. You're slipping all over, the windows are cloudy with grease, and you leave feeling like you bathed in French fry oil, and they put a wet floor sign, but the floor isn't wet, at least not with water. We ordered a combo simple Philly cheese steak, and a burger with fries and a drink. We had to repeat our order about 5 times, and the guy had wicked bad attitude. He talked down to us, and overall made us feel stupid and just straight up like we were in an interrogation. Bro, it's a burger and a sandwich. When we got the food, it was slapped together, the sauces in the burger missed the sandwich and hit the box more than there was on the sandwich. The flavour was good, but judt bad execution. I went one time previous to this, about 6 months before, and was treated the same, so it's the norm, not a one off.
This place is a hazard and a lawsuit waiting to happen. I really don't recommend it. Also, they say they're a wholly Canadian restaurant, but they specialize in American style food, with all the names of their food of places through the states. Sure the ingredients may be sourced here, but how Canadian is that truly?
For your mental health, I don't recommend going here, and I...
Read moreDear Management,
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent pick-up order from your restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory, leaving me with a strong desire to share my feedback.
To start with, the order I received was completely incorrect. Despite clearly specifying my preferences, I was given the wrong poutine with toppings I explicitly asked to be omitted. We have given minute details regarding each order .This oversight is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the attention to detail of your staff. Also, it also states that your restaurant can't handle big orders
Furthermore, the quality of the food was subpar. By the time I got home, the burger was disappointingly soggy, as if it had been sitting around for far too long. The bun was mushy, and the toppings were a mess, completely detracting from what should have been an enjoyable meal.
As a paying customer, I expect a certain level of competence and care when it comes to fulfilling orders, especially considering the prices charged. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of this standard.
I sincerely hope that you take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve your processes and ensure that such mistakes are not repeated in the future. As it stands, I am hesitant to return to your establishment or recommend...
