My partner and I recently ate here. We had the counter top seating, which we immensely enjoyed as it had the view of the kitchen. It is a very nice intimate spot for dates. The restaurant is small with a cool ambiance. We found the restaurant fairly noisy due to the combination of the open kitchen concept and size. We were still able to hear each other when we were seated at the countertops. There were also bag hooks, which is always a plus! Overall, I found the concept intriguing wherein there is no available menu on the website.
Although we found the food delicious, we were not amazed. We ordered the tuna with the bone marrow sauce, which was okay. Nothing too spectacular. We shared, what should have been the PEI T-Bone steak, which turned out to be a ribeye. First, the menu did not state it would take 45 minutes to cook. A medium rare cook should not take 45 minutes. Next, when served, it was a measly 5 slices of meat and it was cold. Lastly, it should have been salted after being sliced. However, I will say, the charred squash was delicious. The chimichurri was also good. I ordered the gooeybutter cake. It was very good, but for something so sweet, it does not need the extra powdered sugar. I think a blend of fresh peaches and compote peaches on the side would have made it a fresher dessert.
Our waitress was very attentive. She was amazing. She constantly poured water and adjusted our cutlery. She was very professional. One of the host was very nice as well. However, the other host was a little bit rude. When my boyfriend was in the bathroom, he approached me to ask if he could grab our coats. I said I was just waiting for my boyfriend who was in the bathroom. Although he kindly let me know someone was waiting to take our seats, I still thought it was a little too much. It cannot be helped that a steak takes 45 minutes to cook. I was already standing, putting on my sweater, waiting for my boyfriend to come back so we could leave. We were not going to dilly dally any much longer.
To summarize, the concept is intriguing and it really does draw you in to come eat here. The countertop seatings are great for dates. The food is nothing special. Our waitress was amazing and some of the hosts were very professional. I would not say I would be back...
Read moreCame here for a birthday dinner on a cold Friday evening in March 2025, with 5pm reservations. Very friend host at the entranceway. Immediately you will notice the smell of a woodfire burning that is strong and amazing! Definitely my first impression was great. Beautiful modern decor. Didn't count the seating capacity but would guess 70 or 80? All standard tables (no high ones, thankfully), with one cushioned, long bench against a wall for those who prefer a softer seat, and some bar seats. Service was very attentive, if almost too much so. We didn't feel rushed exactly, but had to ask for another minute to read the menus, and were checked on every minute or two. Water topped up after even one sip taken. Can't say we were ignored! LOL Anyway, I ordered two negronis as my cocktail of the evening, and both were very good. We shared the House Bread ('Grilled Luke's sourdough, herb butter. $10) which was very good, but three relatively small slices, so not a lot to share. For a mains, we ordered two pastas to be able to taste each. The Squash Triangoli (maitake mushrooms, preserved squash. $31) and Balanzoni (brown butter, mortadella, hazelnuts, parm. $34) were both very good, but small portions that seemed more an app for the price. Mine had five 'bites' on the plate. Desserts were the favorite part of the food menu. The Sweet Potato Donut (apples, bourbon, cream cheese. $15) was beautifully presented, flavorful, fresh, relatively unique. The other dessert doesn't seem to be on the online menu this week? It was some kind of cake (their 'most famous') but the ingredients listed for a cake on the online menu don't seem to be the one we had. It was very good though, nonetheless. Although I enjoyed the experience, I wish there had been more pasta for the price. I'd go back if someone...
Read moreTo start the meal I had the BEST Negroni I’ve ever had!!! Orange infused Campari was just one of the extra details. David the bartender was outstanding. He recommended wines for our meal that were a perfect pairing. The service at Tribute was top notch. Christie our server was so attentive to every detail. We so appreciated her recommendations. When presenting our dishes she gave an in depth explanation. It made the experience even more delicious, with every bite you thought about the layers of flavour. All the servers and hosts worked as a team. The customer service was outstanding. Our water glasses were never empty, and a finished plate was taken away immediately by whomever was close by, and always with a pleasant interaction. The food was Magic! It is a foodie’s dream. The coffee infused pasta with cinnamon cap mushrooms, tossed in prosciutto butter with asiago, served with the perfect red wine pairing was jaw dropping. The stuffed spinach pasta with a parmigiana crèma, with thinly shaved truffles on top. It was so delicious you wanted to lick the plate to get every last drop. David paired with a non oakey Chardonnay that enhanced the experience. For dessert we shared the gooey cake with blueberry compote and white chocolate shavings-wow it was amazing! To say this meal was an extraordinary culinary experience is an understatement. We were in awe of the creativity. To put so many different flavours together that work so well together in such an unexpected way. When you taste the experience Chef Colin brings to this menu you really feel grateful. It was beyond anything I have ever...
