WOW. What an absolutely life changing experience Ristorante A Mano was this past weekend. I had been dreaming of going for months and when we finally got time off, we booked a table, and it was more than I was dreaming of. It exceeded every expectation we had and truly was the highlight of our romantic weekend getaway. First off, the atmosphere and ambiance is unbeatable. You truly feel like you are living in a lap of luxury while you're there. The seating is intimate and very comfortable, with cozy lighting and spectacular views. The food, I feel like there is hardly the right words to explain how absolutely delicious everything was. Each bite made me exclaim "wow!". Because I had been anticipating my dinner there for a while we went all out and ordered 2 starters: the Sgabello which was to die for and I am still dreaming about, and the Gamberi which were hands down the most beautifully cooked shrimp I have ever had, and I am a shrimp fanatic. For our mains we each got out own carbonara and W.O.W. the level of finesse was unreal, my fiance got the seafood linguine which I was actually jealous of due to how incredible it was, he gave me a scallop from it and I have never had such a tender beautiful scallop in all my life and I have lived in Digby! I also got the mushroom pizza and no word of a lie I could eat it daily for the rest of my life. The service was also impeccable, we had an amazing server who was so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the food and cocktails and made sure our evening went perfectly. This was 6 days ago and every day since I have not stopped talking about this dining experience and have recommended it to countless people. We cannot wait to return to try more of the menu! Cheers to such an amazing establishment.

This is my first time eating at Ristorante a Mano and I totally enjoyed the experience. Parking is such an issue in downtown Halifax, so the private/paid parking lot was much appreciated. Although be warned, our reservation was for 5 pm and we got the last spot. We started with the calamretti fritti, which was very good. I did find it to be a bit dry, but the delicious dipping sauce solved that issue. I chose the Picatta Di Vitello [Veal Scalopine] for my main. The fresh lemon flavour was delicious. My dining companion had the Filetto Di Maiale [Proscuito wrapped pork tenderloin]. The flavours were spot on, and the accompanying vegies were perfectly cooked. They have an extensive wine list. A variety of wines can be purchased by the glass, carafe, or bottle. We were happy with the red we chose. Looking at the dessert menu is like walking into a candy store; no resistance! As soon as I read gelato and caramel in the same sentence I was there! The Coppa Caramello did not disappoint. The Limencello creme brulee is also a great choice. The service was outstanding. The restaurant was full and the noise level was a little high. When I go again I will book a table on the patio. Great spot for dinner with friends! [PS -- Please excuse any Italian spelling that might be a little off!]

Had a fantastic lunch here, one of my favorite meals during our visit to Halifax. We made a reservation but were super late, they were very kind about it and had no issues seating us right away. It was almost 2pm on a Saturday in mid-June, so while the restaurant wasn't full it was quite busy for a late afternoon. For starters, we ordered the gamberi in padella (jumbo shrimp) and capesante al sugo (scallops). Both were fantastic, proteins cooked perfectly and the sauces were very tasty. Wish we had some bread to sop everything up! The gnocchi all'aragosta (lobster gnocchi) was excellent as well - big chunks of lobster and soft, pillowy gnocchi. Loved the linguine ai frutti di mare too, great depth of flavor and lots of seafood. Service was friendly and attentive. Comfortable ambiance, felt a little upscale yet approachable and casual at the same time. Diverse mix of groups dining, from families with young kids to older couples. Volume was a little loud even though the restaurant wasn't completely packed. Paid parking is available in the back (shared with other restaurants in the area, so it was full when we arrived).

I would've loved to give this restaurant a 3.5 star but because they didn't even have any takeout spoons for the soup that they sell, it was a 3 star instead. Ordered the Minestra Della Sposa Zuppa and the Calabrese Pizza. The Zuppa was excellent except for the bones and cartlidge in the chicken and the quantity for $12. The pizza was nothing to right home about... Calabrese anything is supposed to be spicey, but this pizza was definitely not spicey at all. The meat wasn't hot more like sweet salami. I found even the sauce was a bit too sweet. Every bite should have been a bit of an explosion at least, but nothing. For those who live in the GTA just visit any Fortinos grocery store (part of Loblaws chain) and order their Calabrese Pizza and you will know true meaning of spicey Italian pizza made with great sauce and amazing dough. But one thing for sure during my brief visit, Not sure if holiday parties were happening or if this place is just popular, but it was packed for a Wednesday night.

This place came personally recommended as one of the best Italian restaurants in Halifax. So we booked and expectations were high. But the following happened: 1. Some dishes come with delicious sauces etc, but no bread is served... which is usual for an Italian. 2. There are lots of staff but our waitress gave us little attention and it was difficult to get her attention. We were left alone for some very long periods. 3. Asked for a Ginger Beer but got given not very tasty Ginger Ale on tap... no bottle. 4. It was pretty noisy. The acoustics don't seem to be as good for dampening sound as they could be. 5. Ordered a pizza and it arrived lovely and hot from the wonderful pizza ovens, but it wasn't very tasty... somewhat bland. I tried to pep it up with some spicey oil but that didn't help much either. 6. Had the banana caramel cheesecake which wasn't bad but couldn't taste any banana. On the positive side the hazelnut ice-cream was some of the best ever experienced in Canada. Won't be going again.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with a good friend last evening at A Mano's.The Raspberry Bliss mocktail was soo delicious. I had two! My friend's Peroni however was at room temperature. The manager and waitress were very apologetic though and did everything they could to make it right. We ordered the Trio Di Piadina to start and I had the Ravioli as a main. My friend ordered the minestrone soup but they accidentally brought out the wrong one at first. Again the waitress and manager did everything they could to make it right. In the end the waitress brought out 2 Gelatos on the house for dessert which was an amazing and unexpected surprise. I really appreciated that although they weren't perfect they went above and beyond to make it right - like us having a good experience was truly valued and very important to them in a way I've rarely experienced. I was so impressed and will definitely be back!
