WOW. What an absolutely life changing experience Ristorante A Mano was this past weekend. I had been dreaming of going for months and when we finally got time off, we booked a table, and it was more than I was dreaming of. It exceeded every expectation we had and truly was the highlight of our romantic weekend getaway. First off, the atmosphere and ambiance is unbeatable. You truly feel like you are living in a lap of luxury while you're there. The seating is intimate and very comfortable, with cozy lighting and spectacular views.
The food, I feel like there is hardly the right words to explain how absolutely delicious everything was. Each bite made me exclaim "wow!". Because I had been anticipating my dinner there for a while we went all out and ordered 2 starters: the Sgabello which was to die for and I am still dreaming about, and the Gamberi which were hands down the most beautifully cooked shrimp I have ever had, and I am a shrimp fanatic. For our mains we each got out own carbonara and W.O.W. the level of finesse was unreal, my fiance got the seafood linguine which I was actually jealous of due to how incredible it was, he gave me a scallop from it and I have never had such a tender beautiful scallop in all my life and I have lived in Digby! I also got the mushroom pizza and no word of a lie I could eat it daily for the rest of my life.
The service was also impeccable, we had an amazing server who was so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the food and cocktails and made sure our evening went perfectly.
This was 6 days ago and every day since I have not stopped talking about this dining experience and have recommended it to countless people.
We cannot wait to return to try more of the menu! Cheers to such an amazing...
Read moreAwful experience all around. We had a reservation, and in the reservation, I mentioned it was our anniversary and I said I did not want to be seated in the middle of the restaurant. (I have a hard time with people walking behind me) When we arrived, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant. I asked to be moved outside or near the windows or a wall, corner, etc. the host was able to move us after 20 minutes. Annoying but whatever. My partner and I have been to Bicycle Thief and La Frasca(same resturant company, and all share the same food. It’s the same focaccia at each) before and they bring out gluten free bread as a starter instead of their normal bread starter at no extra charge. I asked “do you still bring out bread for the table?” And our server said “yes we do!”. I let them know I was celiac and would need the GF focaccia instead. When we looked at our bill, we were charged for it. We still would’ve gotten it, but it was rude to not mention that they’ve started charging. We ordered our entrees, I mentioned several times I was celiac and confirmed they could make my choice. I left very ill. I spent the night with a hot water bottle and a puke bucket next to me. The cherry on top was that when we were ordering dessert, we didn’t get a sparkler for our anniversary, even though we saw 3 couples around us get them for their anniversaries. Again, it was in our reservation. Just felt really disappointed with this entire experience, it was a significantly different service than bicycle thief and la Frasca. Will not be...
Read moreWe are not from halifax, we came for an AirCanada conference and yesterday we decided to take the bus all the way to the waterfront and we walk about 40 minutes under bad weather looking for a place to eat. We found this restaurant, at the beginning the hostess was really nice, she offered us the only table left outside but the heat for that table was broken. We accepted to sit there, we were wet because of the bad wet and hungry. 10 minutes after waiting the customers beside us left so we switched to that heated table. I went to advise the hostess and she said NO you cant change. So i went to tell my colleague that she denied but we decides not to move because we arrived first. The hostess came and told us that customers just came and they were going to be assigned that heated table, we asked if they had a reservation which se said NO, just like us. So we told her nicely we were going to stay. She left rolling her eyes! After one of the persons to sit on that table came and ask us “nicely” to eat fast. Saying I understand you guys arrived first and i don’t want to rush you but could you be fast because we are coming from a conference, really tired and hungry. We responded that we were too and invited her to come and join us to the table if they didn’t wanted to wait for us! She said that she would tell her party of people, but the never came. It was a really uncomfortable experience, we felt discriminated, as we...
