I visited to try 'the Ube Cheese Pandesal', and it was a delightful experience. The vibrant color was eye-catching, and the sweet flavor was a big hit with my little girls.
The price was also very reasonable, which made it even better.
The shop has a clean, white-toned interior filled with natural sunlight. There was a chessboard on the table, and my kids had a great time.
They also have board games available, making it a lovely spot for friends and couples to enjoy a relaxing time together.
Street parking is conveniently available right in front of the store.
The two owners were incredibly kind and took the time to explain what UBE is. The store’s name, Xena, is actually named after the owner’s cats.

Meet Our Cat Xena, the Inspiration Behind the Name
Have you ever wondered where the name Xena came from? Xena is the name of our beloved cat (and business partner too, of course). Our cafe represents the love and affection we receive from her.

Read moreIt was our first time there though we've heard of them for sometime now. My wife and I were looking for a cozy place to have a bite and chitchat time while in downtown Halifax and while we were driving, my wife saw Xena's so off we went. We were there around 1pm and we were able to grab the All-u-can-eat breakfast for less than $20/person. That's a very reasonable price for a very cozy café. The breakfast menu they had wasn't bad at all, but not the best, either. For that price, i can't complain at all. It's buffet and coffee was unlimited, so, yeah, I'm absolutely fine with that. Being Filipinos ourselves, we love the Philippines inspired theme of the place but with a contemporary artsy twist. The white walls with monotone black murals added sophistication and brightness. And its corner location adds great ambiance and openness, not cramp and claustrophobic even if the place isn't really that big. And to top it all, the owners spent time chatting with us. I always love it when the owners take extra time chatting with customers regardless of their busy schedule. I see bright future to this cafè and to these lovely young owners. We will be...
