Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Hamilton

On Friday, November 15th 2024 at approx. 7:55 PM I walked into this Dairy Queen location. A gentlemen with two children were just leaving from one of the counter spaces. Two other youths were walking away from another counter space. This left me as the ONLY customer on the customer side of the counter. I approach the closest staff member; he was engaged in stacking one cake on top of second cake. Then he picked up the cakes, turned and disappeared into the kitchen with the cakes. NO attempt was made by him to acknowledge that I was standing there. A female staff member appeared to be dispensing "soft serve" into a container, was also apparently oblivious to my presence. Then a second female staff member emerged from the kitchen, walked past in front of me and went into a corner to my right. I could no longer see her as there was a tall machine/cabinet blocking my view. The first female staff member stepped back from the soft serve machine, walked past me and also 'disappeared' in the corner where the second female had went. Neither of the female staff members acknowledged, in any way, my presence. I started to walk out and then returned to the counter as I was very hungry and thirsty. I waited approx. 10-15 seconds and confirmed that I was the ONLY person standing at the counter and NO staff member had looked at, or spoke, to me. I assumed they didn't want and/or need my orders. I left and went to McDonalds to purchase my food and drinks. All that it would have taken for me to wait patiently was even a small, minor indication from any one of the three (3) staff members that they had seen me and service would be...

I walked in because the drive through was packed. Order my food at the counter and decided to dine in. Food was ready in about 4 minutes. During my wait I used the bathroom. As I sat down I realized there's quite a lot of elderly people eating in here. And working behind the counter. Then I realized how clean the facility was. My table. The floors. The kitchen. The bathroom. One of the lovely ladies brought the food right to me on a tray. I had ketchup pepper salt and napkins on the table already. Onion rings were perfectly cooked. Burger was absolutely delicious. As I sat there I noticed the ladies are cleaning the machine as they're having a side chat. They served everyone in the drive through and had some time to spare, yet they were cleaning. Another lady came through and went straight to the fridge where they store the cakes. Immediately one of the workers came by and offered assistance. I have zero time to write reviews. But this was well deserved. It's hard to be satisfied these days especially at a fast food restaurant. But this one deserved the 5 minutes of my time. If I want Daiiry Queen, I'll go out of my way to come to this...
