Decided we wanted to try the chicken, because we had the fries before and it was amazing.
I am going to give a honest constructive review about this particular location. Based solely on the food, I would rate it a 4.0 stars. Here is the reason why it got the rating it did.
Food: We ordered 4pc fried chicken w/ fries (which comes with small fries) - because this was to be shared, we asked for medium fries, which Cheryl charged additional $2.00 for (normal medium fries is $3.99). I personally don't think it was worth that much, I expected an increase of up to $1.00 not actually paying for medium fries. Granted I loved the fries, but because they don't have set pricing we did not feel it was worth it. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the portion sizes were great. It was enough for 2 people to share. The breading needed more flavouring, but it was amazing.
We also ordered 1/2 lb wings flavoured suicide, I can tell you the chicken was cooked perfectly, however, the flavour suicide was not actually suicide...it was a mild hot sauce. The hot sauce package (wing's sauce brand) was actually hotter than the flavour. The only complaint I had with the portion of the food is it is not worth the price as most places have 1 lb for the same price. Also, when you are sharing with someone, having an odd number is ridiculous.
Service: While ordering Cheryl who was managing the cash told us she would be a minute, which was fine because we still deciding what we wanted. I expected her to tell us the specials she had going. When we were ready, she still was not at the order desk, and when asked “what would you recommend?”, she was not very helpful. She haphazardly said what people sort of liked...this to me means people don't really have a favourite here and it is all over the place. I want to mention that every single customer that came in had to wait 5 mins before Cheryl made it to the order desk. They also do not have a POS system that is why all the pricing was subjective, and the order was written on paper and then uses a calculator to get the final price which we can’t even compare if she charged the right amount.
We managed to place the order, we let Cheryl know we would like to dine in. She told us we could have a seat anywhere and she would bring out the meal when it is ready, which would be approximately in 10 mins she informed.
When she brought the food out, she asked if we needed anything else, we asked if we could get some mayonnaise and her response was rolled eyes, annoyed look and responded "we usually charge extra for those". She came back with the mayonnaise and told us "you can pay for it on your way out dear". I was not impressed with her response and customer service. I expected her to tell us, "we usually charge extra for this, it's $0.75 for a small blob, would you still like me to bring some?" or bring some and say next please ask while ordering. We honestly did not know it was extra. I like my fries with Mayo. We gave her the mayo back. Everywhere else mayo is not extra unless you are ordering take out, because of packaging. Heck Harvey's they have the Hellman’s packages for free and same with McDonald's. I was not impressed with it.
I also noted that the tables were not cleaned off after the customer left, meaning there were crumbs everywhere. Not a big deal if you were busy constantly, but I expected they would take the time to ensure their dine-in area was clean. I understand they were understaffed. There was only one cook and Cheryl at the location. Prior to this there were a few cooks and Cheryl. But she was only taking orders and it was not busy when we were there.
I would definitely go back to order the fries, but the price is not worth the value of the food. I did not think the place invited a family friendly environment as they advertise.
A few things to help manage resources: a POS system, faster service at the front counter, clean the tables and floors, fill the condiments on the table (ketchup bottles), remove the boxes from the front reception area, makes it...
Read moreI ordered skip the dishes and no driver showed up. The restaurant called and let me know that no driver was coming and my food had been sitting (this was an hour and 20 minutes since I placed the order) Ok, that's fine I will come and pick it up but I don't want to pay $85.00 for soggy food. The lady understood and said she could re make the fries but not the chicken...what?!? I canceled my order through skip the dishes, got a refund for my soggy food and drove to another restaurant and got my fresh food with good service in a timely manner. Next time offer to re make the food when it isn't your customers fault. I can imagine working with third party delivery services can be difficult at times but if you aren't willing to deal with the tough situations then don't use them or do the appropriate thing for your customers because unfortunately this affects your restaurant. This is my first time ordering from hello iris and it will...
Read moreNew to Waterdown, and when I was waiting in line at the Service Ontario, I saw this restaurant which had people coming and going steadily over the 30 minute period. Figured I'd give it a try.... and all I have to say is that I won't be going anywhere else for chicken sandwich or wings. This place has super fresh, great bun for the sandwich, the spicy sauce was out of this world good, and wings were meaty and cooked perfectly. 100% will be going back here + it's a family restaurant, which is great if you want to support small business. Don't waste your time or money at the other fast food joints. For a great sandwich and pound of wings, it was roughly $20 (including tax)... great price for great food.
Give it a try and I bet you will...
