Dragon Island Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Hamilton

Placed order for pick up by phone. Was told 45-60 min wait. Showed up 55 minutes after calling. Paid ($45 for 2 ppl to eat), 5 minutes later she came up and said they didn’t have Lo mein. So they never even looked at my items until an hour after placing the order. Had to settle for chow mein, (no discount). Waited another 10 minutes for the order to be ready. Nice lady and her daughter beside me asked to cancel their order, (they were told 20-30 mins after walking in.) Cashier didn’t want them to cancel, said it would only be another 5-10 mins. Customer said “it’s already been an hour!” Walking out I heard the cashier also tell them she was going to have to substitute their Lo Mein... ...

I placed an order here and then left the building, when I returned it was someone who had placed their order after me who received their order before me. This happened 2 times, not just once. When I inquired about it, the lady said that the individual only ordered one thing and I ordered many. However I saw what the person ordered and it was multiple meals and not just "chicken fried rice" as she stated. I don't appreciate being lied to, or being made to wait when I was clearly ahead in the line-up. It shouldn't matter how many dishes someone orders, the next in line should be served in order that they placed...

There is a reason why I drive 20 minutes to Bo Chin in Burlington (Upper Middle and Brant St.). Overall the food at dragon island is not very good. Literally live 3 minutes away, was there to pick up my food on time but had to wait an extra 5 minutes which was okay as the expectation was the food would be hot. Not so much. Few times a year I try to support this local restaurant but each time it is usually disappointing. I understand opinions are personal and others may not...
