I recently had the pleasure of dining at Island Queens and I am beyond impressed with the experience. As someone who has frequented this restaurant and brought numerous friends, I can confidently say it is a gem in the city. This time, I brought my in-laws, who are originally from Trinidad, to experience the exquisite Jamaican cuisine Island Queens is known for. Despite my in-laws' discerning tastes, the restaurant staff went above and beyond to ensure our visit was exceptional. The chef personally took the time to speak with us and even called in one of their bartenders to accommodate our drink preferences. The bartender, whose name I believe was Kadiesha was simply outstanding. Her dedication, attentiveness, and exceptional service made our evening unforgettable. The server was equally kind, patient, and welcoming, contributing to the warm and friendly atmosphere. The food, as always, was a 10 out of 10 – rich in flavor and authentically Jamaican.( I leave off one star because the fish wasn't available) The drinks were off the charts, earning a well-deserved 15 out of 10. I cannot praise the quality of the cuisine and the professionalism of the staff enough.I highly recommend Island Queens to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Jamaican cuisine or simply looking for an outstanding meal, this restaurant will exceed your expectations. I will continue to bring friends and family here and spread the word about this fantastic establishment.Thank you to the entire team at Island Queens for making our visit so special. Your hard work and dedication to excellent service do not go...
Read moreDrove over an hour from Toronto to Hamilton, this past weekend, to try Island Queens, and it was well worth the trip, especially being of Jamaican descent. While Toronto has its fair share of Jamaican restaurants, they tend to be takeout spots, so it was refreshing to enjoy an authentic Jamaican dine-in experience.
From the moment we walked in, the ambiance stood out — modern yet homey, not overwhelming. It wasn’t busy when we arrived, but we were early for their evening service. We were warmly greeted by Michael, and soon after, Chef Marjorie and her daughter Amanda came out to welcome us personally, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience.
We started with the plantain nachos with chicken, festival and complimentary cornbread and ordered a variety of main dishes, including fried chicken with rice and peas, Rasta pasta with shrimp, pineapple fried rice with chicken, and wings with fries. Each dish surprised us with authentic, bold flavors that transported us to Kingston, Jamaica. The execution was perfect, capturing the essence of Jamaican cuisine while adding a unique touch.
The prices were reasonable, considering it wasn’t just takeout — it was an entire dining experience. Plus, being able to enjoy Red Stripe beer was like a taste of home. We finished our meal with their apple crumble, the perfect end to an incredible meal.
Overall, Island Queens is a 10/10. We’ll definitely make the journey to dine here again, and I’m excited to see where this family-owned business goes. Wishing them continued success as they grow...
Read moreI recently visited Island Queens and had an incredible experience. I ordered the oxtail with rice, mac & cheese, cornbread, and coconut shrimp, and everything was absolutely fantastic.
The oxtail was amazing, flavored perfectly, and the rice complemented it wonderfully. The mac & cheese was also excellent, incredibly tasty with a rich, creamy texture. The cornbread stood out as some of the best I've ever had—moist and delicious. The coconut shrimp was phenomenal, and the sauce they provided with it was equally amazing.
The service was outstanding. The lady who assisted my friend and me was extremely nice, very helpful, and guided us through the menu since it was my first time there. Her recommendations were spot on.
The atmosphere was also very pleasant, making Island Queens a hidden gem. I give this place a solid five out of five and will definitely be...
