No clue what the mixed reviews are all about. Just tried Nannaa for the first time this afternoon and I was very pleasantly surprised. The owner, Mohammed, got up and greeted me and assisted in taking my order at the counter. I got the beef stew with eggplant (bademjoon stew) and it was outsanding. The beef was fall-off-the-bone tender and the eggplant was very lightly fried but did not make the dish greasy. I didn't leave a drop of the tomato-garlic based sauce. I found I had a lot of rice and yogurt-spinach dip leftover when I had polished off the stew, so asked to take home some of another dish without rice. Mohammed let me sample two other dishes (chicken stew with pomegranate molasses; beef stew with herbs, lemon, and romano beans). Again, both had meat that was incredibly tender and sauces that were clearly prepared with a lot of care. He explained the all of the recipes were passed down from his mother. Baklava was very traditional, apparently imported from Turkey; would get again. Service was a mix of self-serve and service, but was clearly explained and was attentive. Decor was unique, modern, and colourful, and truly brightened the space. All aspects of the restaurant and the bathrooms downstairs were very clean. Will definitely return for both eat-in...
Read moreIF YOU ARE HAVING DOUBT ABOUT GOING HERE READ THIS :)- i usually never leave review for restaurants, but this place is so stellar I felt I had to. The portion sizes for all the main dishes are huge, and I always have left overs (and I can eat A LOT). Yes, the apps are small, but that’s the whole point of appetizers!! What they lack in size they make up for in flavour. Some people don’t enjoy the taste of the spices but even if it’s not your style you cannot deny the quality. Amazing service, great atmosphere, and food that makes it one of my top picks in the west end ( I eat out a lot, trust me on this guys). Great vegetarian options as well!! Ignore the bad reviews, unless of course you have no taste or are afraid of trying something new. If you made it this far sorry I rambled I’m just a big fan
Edit - although I hate to comment on this at all it appears that some accounts think I’m a fake account because I’ve only left one review !! 1. I’m a very real person with no connection to this restaurant so please don’t negatively mention my name in your reviews,,,2. LIKE I SAY IN THE FIRST LINE- I never leave reviews I usually don’t have the time or review on instagram. So yes I only have one google review. Please chill out- these are google reviews it’s...
Read moreOne of the only few Persian places In Hamilton.
It's a little bit on the mid price range. Main courses are over $20 dollars. Which is high in this economy. The portions are pretty decent though.
It was interesting and it was good/satisfactory. Nothing really blew my mind. But It was good food.
I will say this. I feel with Persian food, places like this might not know how to market Persian food well. Because certain Persian dishes would go with a whole bunch of small dishes. For example, fasenjoon, it's too rich on its own, when you just give a giant plate of rice + fasenjoon It feels like you would need to get it with a whole bunch of other dishes maybe?. This is just my opinion when it comes to Persian food in Canada. The Lamb shank was okay, I do wish they put barberries in the rice. Other than that again, it's just a piece of lamb with rice. You need to order or put things with it like veggies or something else authentic on the side. This is my only criticism with Persian food in places like this. It's good to come here and share with a bunch of people different things since some of the authentic solo dishes kinda Don't make sense to eat on your own.
There's definitely potential in this place, they could even make the food tastier if...
