Snooty Fox — Restaurant in Hamilton

The food and drinks were good but our waitress was so unbelievable!!!!! We had a group of 10 as it was one of our friends birthdays, we all tipped 15% or MORE except our one friend tipped a bit less as her bill was already $100. The waitress (she had brown hair and had tinsel in her hair) had the audacity to go up to her and tell her that if she doesn’t tip, she has to pay for it out of pocket (which makes no sense because tip is extra, she still paid for her whole entire bill???). our friend then goes on to say that she did in fact tip and our waitress tells her that it’s simply not enough! this is unbelievable!!! most of us have worked in the restaurant industry and tip is always something that is extra! there should NEVER be an expectation, although it can be disappointing to get a lower amount! our whole group could not believe this as that is so unprofessional and reflects very poorly on this whole establishment. furthermore, she did not even split our bills properly! three of us got the exact same drinks and food but our bills were all drastically different? she didn’t even give us a receipt before we paid (or after) so we could confirm it was correct which leads us to think she messed up and charged us incorrectly. we are all students and frequent at snootys, but after this we will have to think twice. also we had to ask her multiple times for things, such as the food we ordered or a takeout box. unbelievable. Not recommended. The quality has gone down the last little while. Went on a Saturday evening with a few friends. We waited 50min-1hour for food. Also, they ran out of one of the entrees that we wanted, so we substituted a burger. Unfortunately, the waitress did not inform us that the burger is not part of their daily specials (2 for 1 entree). We decided to bring this issue up with the manager, but he was not very cooperative. Seems a bit unintuitive to argue over $8-$10 on a $200+ table. Will not be going back.

Some other issues that arose: the food was not very good. I ordered a medium rare steak sandwich, but it came out well-done. Asked the waitress about it, but she said nothing that she could do. Ribs and nachos were very salty. Waitress only stopped by to take order and deliver food, never came around for drink refills, to supply napkins, etc. Not a lot of channels on the TV. No nba games, only options were cfl...

I personally didnt have the best experience, which I hope remains an exception. Went there with a friend, I didn't notice paying contactless, but I was charged 30 dollars extra. I called yesterday after noticing the charge and was told they didn't notice then and to to pass by to solve it. I passed by and the person who served us apologized saying he noticed straight away and wanted to notify us but we were gone (but yesterday no one knew?). I was given back the extra charge, which I'm thankful for, but not the extra tip. To be frank, I think the fair thing to do in such a case would be to say I'll have you pay the net of what you owe for the beers and food, and nothing else. Not holding on to the tip as well, especially not onto the extra tip because you charged us wrong to begin with, would have been the classy thing to do.
