Pane Fresco at Fortinos — Restaurant in Hamilton

There was a young man working at the station where the meatballs are tonight around 5pm who served me. He was very pleasant and the reason I'm leaving 4 stars. It's refreshing after a long day of work to be treated so respectfully. Thank you. That being said, the portion sizes were much smaller than I thought (mashed potato) and I didn't know until I got home how small because the other food was on top. I was getting food for 3 and there wasn't enough for 2 people. I would've paid for more had I known. Not a big deal. After getting meatballs, potatoes and veggies I went to get pasta salad. I wanted to get some wings, pasta salad and pizza so there would be snacks/lunch for my teenage boys but that gentlemen had no interest in serving me more than the pasta salad. He just slid it across the counter and walked away, never to return, no eye contact, no chance to make another request. I could've just left without paying too but that's not the person I am. It was also frustrating to be the only person waiting to pay and waiting for probably 3 solid minutes. No one was in front of me, it was just me. The guy who took my payment seemed frustrated that I wanted to pay. The food looked so good, I wish I had - had better service and I would've bought a lot more. I will visit the pleasant folks selling meatballs and sides and be more specific about the amount I would like. Not sure I'll visit the other counter though. I would hate to trouble them into doing what they're being paid to do- sell food. Glad I didn't go there first, I would've left after. I've never had cooked food from fortinos, hence I don't know what any of the counters are called but it came highly recommended by my coworkers. Maybe I'll find out which location they went to and go...

General manager please respond: how am I supposed to eat a rare prime rib which is delicious with a wooden knife ? When I went to the counter to ask if they had metal or plastic knives for the prime rib. They said no and everyone constantly complains about how awful the wooden knives are but that management won’t let them offer plastic or metal knives 🤦‍♂️ plastic cutlery is no longer outlawed and wooden knives are a disaster for meat. Please please please give us options or I will never have a sit down meal at Fortinos again and I will spend my money have dinner somewhere else. Sometimes the only reason I buy groceries at Fortinos is the convenience of having a sit down meal but I’m through asking the workers to replace the cutlery. About 2 weeks ago I dropped by to grab a sandwich as I do. A young woman I didn't recognise was serving me. There were two sandwiches left of what I wanted; I said " Can I have the one on your left? It looks better". She rolled her eyes at me and shook her head slightly, like she was thinking 'what difference does it make, you fat old looser' lol. My feelings weren't as hurt as much as I was perplexed as to why this bothered her this much? If a person is buying something they should have the choice to pick what they want without judgement.
