New York Fries Aberdeen Mall — Restaurant in Kamloops

I received horrible customer service by whom I believe was the owner and/or manager.

I ordered a large fries which should cost somewhere around $6 and he tried to charge me $8.75 or so. When I questioned him about the price, he told me that was the price with Gravy and when I inform him I didn't order gravy he told me that the fries come with gravy. I let him know that I did not want gravy and I wasn't going to pay for it, which triggered him to get upset with me and he proceeded to angrily cancel the transaction and adjust the price.

After I paid, I stood off to the side a few feet away from the counter and after about a minute of me standing there waiting for my order of fries, he yelled at me to stand at least 6 feet away from the counter without any prior warning. The yell came out of nowhere and it was loud enough that half of the food court turned around to see what was going on. I was a little upset and embarrassed at that point so I didn't argue with him and took a few steps back to comply with his "request".

When the fries were ready, he asked me if I wanted anything on my fries to which I requested some of the California Seasoning Salt and some condiments. At that point he informed me that I would have to pay extra for seasoning salt or condiments and when I questioned him about the additional cost, asking if it was a new policy at this store, he said that ALL NY Fries are charging extra for condiments and salt. After receiving my fries, which were over-salted and barely edible, I searched online and could not find any information on this new policy. To me, this sounds like he was trying to up-charge for the products (gravy when none was ordered; salt & condiments).

Additionally, the size of the "Extra Large" seemed questionable as I was given the fries in a smaller rectangular container that clearly had MUCH less fries than the typical XL containers that NY Fries has always served their fries in. In the end, the fries were too salty and...

This review is strictly about the horrible, disrespectful, unprofessional, staff members that work at this location.

First, we always are sympathetic to food service employees as they have to deal with brutal situations and customers.

Today my 12 yrs old daughter ordered, paid with cash and waited for 10-15.

My older daughter ordered, paid and received her food, and when our youngest didn’t get her order she asked the employee, who then stated that she never ordered anything, and refused to speak with her. My older kid, piped in and the man blew them off.

So mom had to get involved and as she approached the cashier ‘went into the back’ and did everything he could to avoid. When confronted with facts he lied and and refused to honour the order. After 10minutes of arguing another staff member finally did the right thing.

New York Fries, a place known for great fries. Not my experience at this location. I ordered the regular hot dog and fries combo and was disappointed to say the least. The hot dog was satisfactory, I wasn't expecting much from it, but it was fine. The fries though were another story. You'd expect some of the best fast food fries you can get from a place like this, but the fries I received seemed as though they'd been sitting on the shelf for months. They were completely stale, a soggy shell with a dried up potato inner. Virtually flavorless, horrible texture, and zero crisp, they were a complete and utter disappointment to me.
