Moon Wok — Restaurant in Kamloops

I'm not one to submit negative material regarding local businesses in the Kamloops area but I'm very disappointed with the service I received from Moon Wok. Yesterday I had pre-ordered a couple of combos utilizing the online order service on the Moon Wok website. The website was easy and efficient. I pre-paid when I placed my order at 2PM for pick-up at 5PM. 10 minutes later I received a phone call stating that my order would not be ready until 6:30PM. I understood that it was busy and waited until 6:30 to retrieve my order. When I arrived I was told that my order was indeed prepared and ready at 4:30PM. I had not received a phone call, nor any notification indicating at 4:30 that my order was ready. At the counter I was assured that the food was still good because they did not have the time to prepare a new batch for me and that I would receive compensation- 25% of what we paid discounted the next day as I had used the online service and would have to speak with an employee over the telephone. As soon as I got home I opened up the packages and the food was cold. It must've sat for the 2 hours on a counter or a warmer. I was very disappointed as I had expected fresh, hot contents. Not a package of cold Chinese that I could have easily picked up at the Save-On pre-prepared meal section. I phoned today regarding the discount and was told that instead the 25% was to go towards my next purchase. We went to the South Shore one tonight and it was very unsatisfying. I do not recommend this place. Specials of the week sign on the table was filthy. Food was okay. Chow mein and fried rice were so dull that I had to add pepper to flavour it up. No taste to them at all. When we left, the food did not sit right in our stomachs. We had to box our own left over food and bag it too. And the worst part was the service! Each plate (we had 4 plates) came to the table one plate at a time. From first to last plate, it took 20 minutes. We had to fill up on the first plates. By the time the last one came, we were not wanting or needing it anymore. 20 minute wait for the last dish. All the rest would have been cold, if we waited for it!! And to wait like this for bland food! I do not recommend this place and will never go back!!!! I will stick to my favourite place, Oriental Gardens on Victoria Street. Food is so tasty and service cannot be beat. They fill your water glass up before you can even finish it. Once you go there, you will never go back to a place like Moon Wok. I would have gone to Oriental Gardens tonight but they are closed for holiday for awhile and thought that I needed Chinese food tonight....

The service and atmosphere was nice. Very polite staff and clean restaurant. It was my family’s first time coming to moon wok for Chinese food as we’re new to the province. We had ordered 3 combos. The price is good when coupons are out which we had used at this time giving them a try! Can’t go wrong with a coupon for Chinese food! However, we were disappointed in the food aspect. The mixed veggies and beef was good as well as the sesame chicken. However there was barely any sauce on all the chicken balls, the chicken balls were tasteless as well as the small amount of sweet and sour sauce. The almond chicken was tasteless and dry, and most importantly the noodles were tasteless and GREASY!!!! When I say GREASY without any added sauce toppings like soya sauce the bowl looked like I had lathered it in butter!!! There was so much grease coming from the noodles alone. Our food was hot, it was packaged nicely, was given extra sauce on side with cutlery as we asked for. However the food just wasn’t up to par. Unfortunately won’t be back to moon wok and will be on the look out for a better Chinese food restaurant...
